just when you think it can't get worse. .

It does get worse. His brother and sister-in-law called me Sunday and said they were sorry to hear about the breakup. My ex was telling them it was mutual and I was moving out of state.  I told them I was NOT moving and it was a surprise to me that he had this girlfriend but since I didn't want to cause any trouble with his family, I said he deserves to be happy and if she is what he wants, then that was all there was. They looked her up in Facebook and saw her status was engaged since July and they were getting married at the end of the month.  This was a huge shock to me and I didn't know what to say.  They were pumping me for details on her and I didn't even know her name.  They knew more than I did. Then thus morning his 96 year old mother calls me practically in teats apologizing for her son being an idiot. She said I was the best thing that had ever happened to him and she was sick we were breaking up. I love that woman!  I told her he would be fine, he always lands on his feet. Maybe this girlfriend is really rich and he will have everything he wants. Her status says she retired early so maybe she's set for life. I'm not since I spent all my savings on him over the years. I know I am better off if he could treat me this way and carry on a relationship behind my back for 9 months.  How did he do it, you ask. It was only during the day. He was home eevenings and nights. He took 2 trips he told me were church retreats in the last 9 months. That was it. I'm crushed and my self- asteem  is at an all time low. Can't wait to talk to my therapist this week. Maybe she can help me understand this. Oh yeah, he texted me today telling me he would get his things out in the next 2 weeks. I asked if it was true he was getting married and he said they had talked about it but there was no date. Considering her Facebook status I'm thinking he is not telling me the truth again. Once his stuff is out I can try to move on. Nothing left to need to talk with him about. I spent 10 years with this man. How did he turn into this person who has so little respect for me? I'm stumped!

Lonestar I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. I'm newly divorced and do understand how you are feeling. Things will begin to get better for you, especially once he gets his belongings out of your space. Please try to remain no contact as much as possible. Be kind to yourself. HUGS.

Hugs, Go no contact as much as possible. wondering if you can go after some spousal support. And that his leaving will leave you struggling financially. One thing for sure he has nothing and you have everything, Trust, honour and respect. Hugs again.

Thank you all. I'm numb trying to process everything. Knowing he's getting married at the end of this month is killing me. I've been just trying to move on from breaking up and to be hit that he's been engaged while he was living with me and telling me he loves me. My life had become a Jerry Springer show. I sooooo didn't need to know that .

Perhaps you believed him to be a much nicer person than he actually is?

It shatters trust, loyalty, respect and love.

It's a slap in the face.... deception & lies seem bad enough, but to also think the cheated partner can be so easily fooled by this behaviour is abusive and cowardly.

Quite honestly, we are all better off without that in our lives.

No contact helps you think straight and no fresh cuts over the scars
