in the morning......
this morning i watched a big flat bed truck drop off a full to the rim trash pod, then go away, come back and drop an empty pod on a different part of the street........then after while here he came again.......to move the full pod, then move the empty pod. amazing how easily it all came together thanks to angles and pulleys and motors.
saw the kids next door returning from their daily walk with Lola......they came over and helped me out last night. my new chair arrived yesterday. they came over to put it together, put the big card board box at the curb. the two pieces of the chair should have slid together, then clicked....voila! but no, it was a real challenge. they had to maneuver in my small ish space....which is a whole other set of challenges. everything needed was in the blocked off part of the kitchen, the scissors, the flat head screw driver, the flashlight......poor Kari had to climb around to get things for Ryan. but they are real troopers......after almost an hour it suddenly all came together. in the end he had to reposition (bend and jury rig it) metal in order to make it work..........but it worked.
then we sat for a bit and talked about plans for Thanksgiving. both of their moms are coming......they are bringing more dogs, trailers, misc items for the household, family recipes.......and hopefully a break from all this rain. my old chair is sitting in the garage.....can't decide if it's still good enough to donate or not? hmmmm, it was in great shape until baby mia lit into it. she managed to claw up several corners of the chair......the kids think i should donate it, but i'm not convinced. hmmmmmm.
the new chair is very soft, very comfy........a pretty shade of velvety sage green. it's a big change from pale blue......the comfort is massive. ohhhhhhh myyyyyyyyy goodness. and it lays completely flat so now i have an added sleep option......took a year to save for it.......now that it's here it doesn't seem quite real. this will be my honorary Christmas tree this year........a stand in for decorating the living room. i expect i'll bring in some table top decorations, seems like i can't resist at some point every december......but that tall skinny pre lit fake tree can stay UP STAIRS where it is.....
christmas is lovely.....it's the decorating that is extra hard.
yesterday i made it to ingles, got what i needed to make two quiches for the sunday family gathering......and somehow managed to drag in other stuff home from there as well. i need some kind of zapper on my list.....so that when the list is complete i can't put one more thing in that cart. who am i kidding? i can't believe that i managed to remember to bring my list at all..........lol. rare when that happens........i'm just super proud that i haven't purchased any of those white fudge covered oreos yet. i like to put them in the freezer and pull a couple out for a yummy nibble. dangerous little cookie buggers!
but i didn't get 'em.......yet.
i made meatballs this morning, sauted onions and mushrooms......married them in a pan of gravy to simmer. then i made some mashed potatoes......cleaned up the crazy mess i made. which is no small thing.......but now it's done. i have dinner for several days. now i am super sleepy. every now and then i hear the birds talking......the frig humming. rio is laying on an afghan over the sofa.....right in front of the living room window. he's all curled up cozy kitty style.....he's right, it IS a good time to nap.
so odd to be awake this time of day.......not quite ten am. weird. so this is morning.............huh. hugging all sweet pals in 4, 3, 2, 1 HUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
