i wanna soak up the sun......for a little bit.
long time away.......from y'all.
illness is up. trying to overtake the days. ...determined little bugger.
trying hard. took two pain pills to be able rest. pain shocks the joints and muscles. pain pills can't conquer but it can tamp it down some. ...eventually get lulled into a discordant sleep. the movie camilla is playing in the background, the softness of the story seems to soothe.
when i wake the day calls to me.......i feel my friends Energy & Beauty waiting.....calling impatiently, " Rise & walk. We wanna show you things. Come on......."
the other day i spied a hydrangea coming up through the ivy. i want to free it from the ivy & replant it with it's hydrangea buddies in the front yard. ....weed the new bed where tiny irises will rise up soon.......i want so much sometimes. i want to finish painting the free table ocean breeze blue.
side bar, about the free table. a neighbor put a large rectangular glass/metal table in the trash. it was dirty and rusty, but otherwise unharmed. a young man stood outside talking to a friend.......i wanted to ask before just helping myself. "Are you sure you don't want this anymore? I said. "Well not completely" he said, "Will you give it a good home?" he said.
He is in his late twenties.......long black hair, slender....tall, looks like an artist of some sort. And kind......he asked his pal to give him a hand, they loaded the table into my trunk and bungie corded it in for the short move. Then he said, "You're gonna need help getting it out......."
I offered him a ride, but he said he was about to go for a run, so I'll meet you there.......um where do you live?" I pointed to my home on the hill.........thanked the other young man. .......The young man sets the big table on my driveway and asks me to tell my neighbor hello.......he says that his Mother plays the banjo ---- that his Mom and neighbor Bob used to play banjos together........his Mother also used to be the mayor of our small town at some point. I say I will and then realize I don't know his name.......he's gone by the time I realize this.........
but I have this table, for FREE. It is a dirty, algae encrusted, muck, gunk & rust infused table.....not to mention the abundance of spider webs. In other words BURIED TREASURE ha ha!!!! .........
I wait for morning -- give it a good bath w/ elbow grease & a magic eraser. Let it dry in the sun......Debbie comes to clean........she thinks I should paint it a pretty blue........not some boring quiet color........"be vibrant", she advises. i have one can of lighter blue paint -- she says, "This is it!"..........so I get more at the Wal of Mart........and gradually work on painting it. I have it sitting on a well used 98 cent plastic paint tarp.....secured by small buckets of dirt.
Luckily I can sit to do this project & simply move the chair to get the best painting angles. I have a can and a half of paint left cross my fingers that it is enough.........then I will figure out where to put it, add the bright yellow umbrella sitting in the garage for a couple of years......(got it at an end of summer close out for $8 or $9 bucks).......set it in the umbrella stand and voila........a FAMILY SIZE TABLE for gatherings. Elbow grease and $20 worth of paint. Tah dah. I am excited.........
I can see it all done sitting in the sun........an outdoor dining room. Invite kids. Cook OUT !!!! it can happen.........
The birds are singing........it's so lovely in this place. Not perfect........but really lovely, the birdsong will soften your pain......ease your aches........heal the heart. There is a nest of doves in the Christmas Tree on the corner of the patio........a robin's nest is the front boxwood hedges. The chipmunks are always up to something here.......pretty sure they are the ones who got into both nests and killed an egg in each nest. Sad moment of silence for these fine bird parents to be.
The circle of life.........tut tut it looks like rain is coming. 40% chance today........I am trying to head out there to soak up some goodness. I don't feel like it.........and yet I feel the day pulling me out there.........I've had an amazing run, I am so grateful for the good days..........it hurts to sit, it hurts to wear shoes.......lots of hurts...........fibro hurts. CFS leaves me a little on the dizzy wonky side........reminds me to be careful, to take my time. To use the cane to steady me along........
..........how are you? i love ya ya know.......if you didn't well I do..........friends love friends. that's us. right? right! Sam's gladiola bulbs are shooting up healthy and strong......Sam came by for dinner Sunday evening.....we ate on the small patio table. Roast, mashed potatoes, fresh sweet corn, fresh sweet tea (lol, ok FRESH EVERYTHING!!!) ....herb garlic bread and fresh raspberry panna cotta. A meal to be savored as the sun went down.

What wonderful news about the table! That sounds great! It\'s wonderful that you were able to see it go from something that was considered \"garbage\" to a usable piece. So sorry about the baby birds. That is sad. Poor babies. Love you, dear. Good to hear from you.
Another man\'s trash is Ruthies new treasure.Go girl!.Very creative. No sleep so just short and sweet.Love you too.
Ah buried treasure..I do love to take something discarded and make it new again. Glad you\'re gaving some sunshine Ruthie. Warm hugs.
Gotta love the free stuff. I found this amazing curved sofa for free for my Ex.
Perhaps we can all get out and feel better soon. Sometimes just sitting outside helps. I\' ve been too busy with grandchild events and I\'m just resting today. Sometimes I am surprised at the lack of attention to crumbly old folk at school events and then some nice gentleman get up and offers a chair instead of bleachers and it stirs the heart. Glad you found some angels to help with your table.
