I'm Sorry
Today I saw a girl at a bridal store that was incredibly thin. I can't just to conclusions and assume she is anorexic. For all I know, she could have a disease or a condition. She was extremely skinny and her bones protruded. I've never seen someone so skinny. She was prom dress shopping so know she was in high school.
Whether or not she is truly anorexic, I want to write out the thoughts I had while I watched her move about and look at herself in the mirror.
I wanted to go up to her and tell her she's stunning. I wanted to tell her that her worth isn't defined by how much she weighs on a scale or by what size clothes she wears. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her she is so loved and cared for.
And while I was watching her, I realized how much I don't want to be thin and skinny. Oftentimes I think "I need to have every bone show." But no. That's not what I want. That's not what defines beauty. I don't want to grasp so hard for control that I end up completely losing it. It was while watching her that I realized the thoughts that I have about her apply to me too. Of course, I don't believe it in he slightest for myself, but it remains true.
