Hello again

Hey guys!  I know this is a challenging time for everyone and I have been holding everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
My daughter, Summer is almost 12 weeks sober so things are going well And I'm so grateful.  She and Jeremy went to Ohio to visit their 89 year old grandmother for Christmas.  We're having our Christmas on New Year's Day this year so it's been different and I'm ok with that.  I think we all wanted something different.   i worked on Christmas Eve and went to dinner at a friend's house on Christmas Day so I've been keeping busy.  I have spent time looking through pictures and going through some of Justin's things and I didn't decorate at all this year.  I just didn't feel up to it although I do like to look at other's decorations.   On Sunday I attended a small gathering of my Al-anon friends which we do every year.  Every year after gorging on holiday yummies, we go around the room and recount our year and I was able to talk about Justin for the 1st time in a group setting.  It was tearful at times but these folks are mostly old friends who have been very supportive.  On Monday I attended a funeral and ran into more old friends and acquaintances who knew about Justin.  I am sometimes unprepared for my tears when I see someone for the 1st time since his death.  I am where I am I guess.  My mind is with him all of the time still and I still miss him so much.
i have more to share but I need to go to bed.   Love to you guys and thank you for your love and support. I will be in touch!
Deanie

I had to change things up our first holiday season. I think you did your best to try to enjoy the holiday however you spent it and that is HUGE! Our children are missed but I know they would want us to continue to live life and do our best. Congrats on your daughters sobriety and so happy you were able to talk about your son. Much love and comfort in the New Year. Robin

We do the best we can but there are those times when a thought enters our mind and unannounced tears flow at the most unpredictable times. We did not decorate and until this year I wasn\'t ready to celebrate. Unfortunately I cleaned out the Christmas decorations and donated them thinking it would always be that way. (Perhaps next year a very small tree...) You must be so proud of Summer and I am sure Justin is on her mind as well. I hope you find time to share more when you can. You are right to be well rested as this journey is hard enough and it is vital we take care of ourselves.
Sending love, one soth to another,
Leda

What a gift for Summer and each day without that monkey on her back is beyond words.

I\'m glad that you did what felt healing for you this year and each year for me it changes so I am open to that and actually welcome it now.

I understand how those tears can flow and for me it\'s seeing the expressions of others when we talk about Douglas that really pulls on my heartstrings. Just like Nora said, those tears can flow at any time and it is okay, more than okay.

Loving care to you dear Deanie, and always happy to hear how you are doing and feeling on this path. Justin IS deeply loved and sorely missed.

Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie

Oh Deanie, I\'m so glad to hear that Summer is doing well! She continues to be in my prayers for healing and recovery. I know that it is one day at a time, but this is such good news.

Deanie, my tears still flow ever so often with certain memories of Jared. I feel it like a dagger stuck in my heart. The pain just doesn\'t go away, although it is not as gut wrenchingly raw like it was in the beginning.

We just need to be open to our grief. And when those tears hit, do not apologize to anyone, just let them flow. It\'s all part of the healing process.

We will always miss the physical presence of our children that have passed while we are earth bound.

Take care my friend and may this year bring you countless wonderful blessings.

Love and hugs,
Diane

How wonderful for Summer.....I so hope her journey continues to be one of sobriety. I can just imagine how your heart swells with joy for her & rightfully so.

Oh for sure Deanie, your mind is still with your precious Justin. Always will be.
My sons Jeremy & Chad have been gone for almost 8 years and my mind is with both of them every single day. Our love for our sons will go on & on.

Hugs of understanding
Vicki
