Happy.... and sad.
My sister and her husband came to visit for 2 days on their way to a cruise. They have a wonderful trip planned and it sounded exciting. I cleaned for weeks in anticipation of their visit, even painting the guest room. I really enjoyed the visit and was very surprised at how sad and depressed I was when they left. It was so obvious on what I lost last year. Companionship, someone to do things with like they do, just someone to talk to every day. I soaked up the conversation and just loved talking to someone other than the cat! I hope this feeling passes quickly as I feel like crying all the time today I'm so lonely. I know I have to get out and find people to socialize with outside of work. It's just hard the older you get to find people in a similar situation who would want to do things - and that aren't couples. I had spent so much energy this last year adjusting and making changes around the house to make it comfortable to me that I had no clue how little it would take to plunge me back in depression. I don't want to make a snap life decision because I'm lonely, but it is so tempting. I'm praying for strength and peace to get me through this. Has anyone else had this happen? After what you feel should be more than enough time to heal and you feel like you are finally in a good place - maybe not great but taking care of things and actually feeling somewhat content and then BAM! You emotionally get hit once again on where you are. I thought after a year I wouldn't feel anything like this. Maybe if he was really gone. He texted me again last week - there was a problem in my neighborhood that made the news and he texted me asking if I was OK. Like we were good friends or something. I know that if I had something else in my life to keep me busy maybe I wouldn't be affected like this. I really hate this.

Have you tried a dating site? Just start meeting people on one. Text for a bit first. It’s really not that hard. Hugs.
Hugs my friend. I understand what you are saying. Just had lunch with an old co worker and boy it felt great talking to someone that understood you. He just lost is wife of 29 years. I could see it in his eyes the loneliness and grief. Did you try a meeting group or even the library has group meetings too. I am going to join one soon. Someone my own age to talk to. Hugs and be gentle with yourself.
