Goodbye IV & Oral-Antibiotics!!

Not too long ago I was extremely sick, I had a fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite... you name it! I was sick for about 4 days before I finally made it into the clinic and they told me it sounded like I had a urinary tract infection that was moving into my kidneys. I had to start on a really strong doseage of the strongest oral antibiotics they could give me immediately, and if I got worse overnight/next morning I would have to go back in to the clinic. I was fine overnight/next morning, but it was the next night that killed me. That was when the pain started. My kidneys were killing me, I was in excruciating pain and had to be taken to the emergency room. My kidneys were in fact infected. It wasn't too long before they took me in for urine and blood tests and gave me a shot of morphine for the pain. I was in the ER for 8-10 hours in total, I honestly can't remember how long it was now. They had to give me an IV of antibiotics, fluids, and also gave me more morphine in the IV.. that hits hard. I ended up getting extremely sick from the IV and threw up in the hospital washroom, luckily I made it to the toilet..but just barely.

The area that I was in the majority of the time was also the area that I was in when I had my miscarriage, and I used the very washroom that I had my miscarriage in. I was quite proud of myself for doing so well! I didn't have any flashbacks or strong emotions regarding it, I'm really glad I went through therapy for it.

I ended up having the keep the IV in my hand for 5-6 days, and had to go in every single day for IV antibiotic treatment, and when I was finally done with those I had to go back on the oral antibiotics. The IV antibiotics made me extremely sick, I had diarrhea really badly and nothing would help it.. It was a nightmare. I ended up getting quite malnourished and lost a fair bit of weight.

I've been eating properly again, for the most part, I've actually been eating more than I usually do and have a way bigger appetite than normal. I've actually found that I'm way more hungry that normal, I can eat an entire plate of food, and feel like all I ate was a teeny-tiny starter salad. I'm trying to eat healthily and not over-eat, but I know my body is still recovering from being so sick so I'm allowing it a little grace period and I'll get back to my regular self soon enough! :)
