Exhaustion from Exhaustion from Exhaustion

Its been a week of weeks and a month of months.  Eight days ago, we had to go to the hospital and then the rehab hospital and well it was a trek to get to both places and to care for my mom who has never been in a hospital except to have her kids...46 years ago...so you can imagine the weirdness that happened when she looked at me from her skeletal face all bald and terrified...."I have to get out of here" - " Get me out of here"....etc.  I wanted to scoop her up and take her immediately, but she couldn't walk, she could hardly talk and she was not medically sound to come home.  So it was a back and forth thing for days...and well towards the release date I started to stagger with my exhaustion.  Dealing with the social workers, the nurses and the weird smells and sounds of the rehab hospital was overwhelming and made me nauseous - Seeing my mom so vulnerable and so lost in such an abyss as her illness has caused - it is a constant stranger at the door, pounding to be let in, but it is in...the stranger is in...and the stranger is poisonous.
