Edgar

I adopted Edgar when he was just 2 months old. At the time I was in a deep depression and everything in my life just sucked and I thought that maybe having a pet would help me. Ive always been an animal lover, had many pets growing up and I remember how they can make you smile even when you feel like shit….they give their love unconditionally…..they seem to sense when us humans are down and they can cheer us up in their special way. I feel that wanting a pet again was purely a selfish act. I even thought about what would be best for me…. a dog, a cat, a fish, bird, lizard, etc, etc. and one of the main reasons why I chose a cat is because they are a bit easier to take care of. They don't have to be taken out to go to the bathroom. I love dogs but that was one of the deciding factors in what animal I chose for a pet. On my way home with Edgar (his name at the time was cotton) I was honestly thinking……oh my god, what did I just do? I was scared that I made a mistake. I couldn't care for myself at the time why was I so selfish to adopt an animal? I have had doubts every now and then since Ive adopted him but they get less and less as the days go on and I realize what a wonderful choice that was. At times I feel Im not a good papa to him but he loves me no matter what and thats so special. He once came and jumped up on my lap when I had a blade in hand about to cut…..he just looked at me and layer down on my lap. Im so grateful for his efforts but I gently put him down and with a tear in my eyes I cut. I think he can tell that Im not well. He tries to get me to chase him around the house and he always brings his toys and drops them at my feet to play. I could go on about my little guy but I think I will end it here. I seriously don't know what I would do without him in my life. I love that little guy.

Aww Pagan, this made my heart smile :) my childhood dog that I adopted when I was 10 (she passed away earlier this year) was very special to me too, she was part black lab and part mutt, her name was Mattie. She helped me through a lot of hard times too. You\'re right, animals are very sensitive to us humans. I\'m so glad that you and Edgar have each other :)

Kitties are the best of pals when things are dark and you\'re feeling lower than low. They\'re very perceptive too. It sounds like you\'ve found a wonderful friend in him. Keep him close, he\'ll never judge you no matter what and will always love you.
