Day 1 back to work

First day back to work after breakup. I was so afraid I would start crying at my desk but I made it through the day. I put a book on my ipod and listed all day at my desk. Anything not to think about my ex. I made it through the whole day. So I can do it! Still sad and the initial numbness is starting to fade. Like novacaine from a dentist. Now it's just constant sadness at the loss. I know that takes awhile to fade so using all the coping tricks I know. I see him tonight to take care of splitting the cell phones into 2 bills. Wish me luck. I don't want to cry in front of him. It would be humiliating knowing he's heading back to his girlfriend after. I do not want to appear that needy.

Hon, I know it is hard. But there is one thing that I have learned and practiced until I got it down to perfection. It is what I tell a lot of people. "Smile, turn around and walk away" When he leaves, show him the door, and then gently close it behind him, do not say or ask him anything. I did that and boy does it ever bother them. It will bother them more than anything you have to say. You will be fine. I cried so much that I thought my eyes would be permanently swollen. I am 66 and will not let another man into my life. I am sure that there are great men out there, but all I seem to find are warts. Hugs my friend.

Sorry about your ordeal...you are worth it and once you heal and using coping skills, you will be alright. Your ex is not worth it and you deserve much better....grieve,cope and move on. A better, greater man will be in your future!! Stay strong... :)

Thank you. Hearing reinforcement help more than you know. I agree with Atpeacemary - I know there are good men out there. How do I keep ending up with the ones that turn into jerks. I feel like I have a sign on my forehead saying - sucker here - come take advantage. And ironically it's only with men. I am not pushed around at work or anywhere else. But start to care for someone and they walk all over me. I am hoping my therapist can help me stop picking the losers. There is something I am missing when I get to know them. Although my ex was good at hiding it. He had 2 ex wives ( yes, that should have told me something but I believed that one was an alcoholic and one was just mean) and plenty of girlfriends in between. And we are not talking Cary Grant here. He just has such charm. I bought it hook, line, and sinker for 10 years. If this girl hadn't let him move in with her it probably would have been a few more until he found someone else. I'm trying to be grateful that it wasn't later and I didn't lose any more of my life with him. I'm trying - not quite there yet.
