Counting blessings

I'm at work but still so exhausted, its going to be hard to get anything meaningful done.  Been struggling not to fall into depression since crashing in December.  For me the onset of depression can be very subtle so sometimes I don't realize I'm there until I'm in a full on episode.  Guess I'm in the shadow zone right now.
And in the shadow zone, day-to-day concerns rear above you in monstrous proportions.  Stressing about job issues, about money issues, mad at my son for minor stuff, concerned about health challenges he is having, dealing with family issues, struggling to just get my head screwed on straight.  Wishing that life would just GIVE ME A BREAK!
At times like these I like to take my little blessings out, lay them out in a row and count each one.  So for each area of stress, I have some blessings to count...
- I am blessed to have a job
- I am blessed to have a job that allows me to lie in bed and still be effective
- I am blessed to work with a company that is prepared to accommodate my infirmities by allowing me to work from home when I cant be in office
- I am blessed to have a job that I actually enjoy doing
- While I don't have all the money I want to do what I want to do, I am blessed to have the resources that I do have and to have been able to achieve what I have achieved thus far.
- I am blessed by the knowledge that I have never been made to suffer for lack of money, I have been through periods before where its has been scarce, but HE has always provided, I have food, I have a roof over my head, I have sufficient to meet my needs..his eye is on the sparrow and I KNOW he watches me
- I am blessed to have a NORMAL child.  Yes he does stuff that drive me up a wall and sends my stress level rocketing.  But he is also kind, loving, obedient, respectful and tries really hard to please his mom.
- I am blessed that while this journey may wound my child, so far he's been bouncing back and we have been able to work together to resolve issues.
- I am blessed that on a day like today, when I am weak and ailing, my child clasps his hands and prays that God will guide and keep me safe.
- I am blessed that despite my infirmity, we are able to tend to my son's issues and make sure he's OK
- I am blessed to have family who love me.  They are geographically distant, they are by no means perfect, but I am blessed to have a few who care enough to lend their support insomuch as they are able.
- I am blessed to have people to talk to when the going gets tough.  People who will advise me, tell me the truth and point me in the right direction (whether I like it or not)
- I am blessed with the understanding that we are all human.  Imperfect beings who don't say the right words, don't always do the right things, who hurt each other without meaning to...  I am blessed to be learning tolerance.
- I am blessed to be able to function within my limitations.  I don't like where I am at, but I know it could be so much worse.  I know also that HE does not give us more than we can bear, that it is up to me to learn and grow from this experience.
- I am blessed with the knowledge that I have a choice.  I can choose to focus on the challenges and be unhappy, or I can focus on my blessings and find peace, joy and comfort.
- I am blessed by knowing, deep down inside that I will be OK.

(Smiling now .. the cloud is lifting...)

PS : One of my biggest blessings is getting to know each one of you, to share in your journeys, to pull on your strength, to be encouraged and inspired by you and to do what I can to help you on your journey.  Have a blessed ay DS friends

Wonderful post. It is too easy to let depression rule. A list of blessings is a great thing. Thanks for sharing yours.

Also I appreciate the PS. I too have in a very short time been encouraged and inspired by others on here. What a wonderful thing to help each other.
