Conversations With God
That, after all,is the meaning of prayer, right? Wish I felt better than OK but it was a difficult weekend. Some people are unhappy and they want to make everyone around them unhappy too. Even as a Christian I've struggled with depression for most of my life (actually I'm bipolar 1 with psychosis). I was in the hospital three times last year. Actually this is the longest I've gone without hallucinations or thoughts of self-harm. My situation hasn't changed, but the way I look at it has. Countless times I've told God, "I wish I had someone to talk to" and He's replied "Talk to Me." Things have really changed since I was a young believer, all for the better. Every day I depend on Him more and more. I devour the Bible (especially the Gospels) because it's the only thing of His that I can touch, and where He talks back. I think the reason I'm into the Gospels so much is that I'm desperate to feel His love for me,and I never want to forget His supreme sacrifice for me. Getting to know Him as Father has been wonderful, too. I'm in a dark place, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
There's a woman here who hardly ever talks unless she's lying in bed,and then it's just a stream of profanities. The room across from mine that used to belong to four guys now is inhabited by three women, including the profane one. For some reason my room is colder than anyone else's,so I mostly keep my door open so heat can come in. But now since foul-mouthed Henrietta (not her real name) is up here,I sometimes have to close it. I wonder if she's what they call possessed. Technically, I have the authority over what's inside her, but I don't want to attempt an exorcism alone (I am the only real believer here). I've always doubted myself, especially in a spiritual sense. How can someone who is born again have thoughts of taking the life God gave her?
