confession

Things are going quite well. I'm feeling better and better, with the Covid

now nearly out of my system.

I've been inspired to clean my apartment WELL, since keeping indoors,

and I've used the perspective of

looking at the job creatively - doing it little section by little section -

and it's been really good!

NOT the WHOLE ENCHILADA at once...!

and also I had been thinking about and inspired by the title of this book I have

by a woman named Diana Nyad,  who swam the English Channel, which is: "FIND A WAY".

That's kind of my theme song at the moment.

I got a little hubris in me today and I went to the shops to get some supplies…

even though I'm supposed to be quarantining. I needed to be proactive and excuses aside it's

safe to say I am not contagious having been in the house now for 8 days (the window for contagiousness is 5).

I wore double masks to be as responsible as possible.

And have continued to get a lot done all day long. Cleaning, shopping

and keeping accounting books balanced and doing laundry and the dishes.

About to rest now with a cup of tea in bed along with Blue.

I really kind of overdid it with expenditures though but it's also pleasantly surprising me

that after years of being so fiscally conservative, that indeed I can afford some stuff instead of affording 'no stuff.'

I'm excited by what I bought and recently I bought, online, a treadmill for Blue (~$400)

.

Today while picking up food for him and some kitty litter, I saw

a really cute new scratching post and habitat for him....it's a good replacement for

the ratty old used up one.... and then threw in a couple of Valentine's themed presents for him:). (~$135).

Before buying it, I reminded myself,  and still am, that I need to keep money saved and conserved for funding

for the future of Blue's potential medical needs. (On my way to shop I was so excited and enthusiastic. It was emotional territory I hadn't experienced in a while. !!! I knew I had to keep a lid on it but decided not to deny myself since indeed I have 'some' money saved. I came at that flash of fear that indulgence inspired with a steadier wisdom. It felt reassuring and good.) So  then also I thought of saving for my inevitable expenses for

medical and dental...saving for a rainy day...needs during the year, as well as the travel I hope to do.

I am reminding myself to keep grounded with this new sense of liberty. And so I made a call to my folks to check in. I also reminded myself, rest is really important though the fun of doing projects can be alluring. Even when I rest, a little journaling helps organize my rest.

I'm seeing how in my down time I like to write things down as a reflection on what I’ve done with the day.

And I think when I’ve hit a glitch where I didn’t handle something well or virtuously it impacts me. I get upset or I feel guilty.

I’m realizing that’s a good area to be be aware of.

That way I can choose how I’m reacting rather than blindly punish myself in the face of a disappointment. Recognize what happened but then weigh the weight of it, put it in a box, give yourself a break and move on.

Ok gotta hit the sack. Have a good night.

Peace,

Mark

i was introduced to that concept looking at the job creatively - doing it little section by little section..." through psychotherapy and later developed ways to introduce it to housekeeping, career development, relationships, etc. small steps really will get you there more surely than the rapid misdirects of hurry. have you ever wondered how so few people have time to do things right the first time, but everybody seems to have the time to do it over? it's faster to go slower and do it right the first time.

one of my most trusted financial advisors is vociferously adamant about keeping fun on the budget, no matter how tight that budget is. his claim is that it keeps you relaxed, sane and more able to hold a course.

Loved hearing about what you bought for Blue. My cat's favorite things are perches in front of windows and a very fluffy, round anti-anxiety bed...wish they made them big enough for adults! :)
