comfort and joy.

hey you,
after my morning post today i crawled into bed.  shivering.  sad.  low to the ground kind of blues.  i put an extra blankie on.......loosely tossed on like a salad fixin.  turned the tv off, and began to pray.
thoughts were scattered.......mostly edged in heartache.  i fell asleep........and didn't wake up until around 5 pm this afternoon.
felt all wobbly and shivery.......you may be wondering where the positive part starts.....it's coming, it's just a slower process, takes some patience to find it within......
wrapped my long pretty red shawl around my shoulders.  blankets and sweaters are a regular part of my care plan........they cushion, soften and insulate........they are so nice.  like hugs. they have become a part of my in-home circle of care bears.  they don't hug too tight, they don't hurt......they comfort.  they don't judge, they don't tell me what to to.........they just help me get through.
as i sat here - slowly enjoyed sending some hugs out.........read some board posts, a message or two......and then i got up to make some split pea soup.  having it with some leftover honey cornbread.
earlier i had a salad, with leftover crispy baked chicken.  it's an easy recipe, you put chicken cutlets in milk, whisk in some garlic powder & pepper.....then roll it in cereal.  i used crushed Special K......added more spices to the crushed cereal.......
oooooops I forgot, very important you marinate the chicken in the milk/garlic powder and pepper.  (most people would also add salt, but that's a no no for me).  you can marinade anywhere from 1-8 hours.........it makes the chicken really moist.  anyhoo after marinating it in the frig ........i rolled the chicken in the crunchy crushed spiced up cereal, put it in a glass baking dish sprayed with non stick stuff........it bakes for 30 minutes at 350 or 45 min at 350 if you have my oven..........it's easy to make, moist on the inside and just a little bit of crunch......which i like. (and it smells great......like an Italian restaurant........YUM!)
both kitties are sitting side by side on top of the center couch cushion.......looking out......tails gently swinging back and forth in unison........sweet little cat metronomes without the annoying noise! they just had dinner so they feel very content.........and relaxed.
i hope you can find a bit of peace .......find some contentment, wrap up in a blankie......or put your feet up......i have a date planned with a book.  i'm pretty sure i read it before, but thanks to the grace of brain fog i don't remember how it ends.........it's a tiny little lady who used to be a district attorney who now serves as an AUSA in Philly.........she goes on all kinds of adventures solving a case..........it is late winter in the story ......it is very very different from my own life and i'm enjoying it very much!
be a blessing in your own life.......cut yourself some slack.  i haven't heard yet from the kids about Grandma.........pray her surgery went well today, she broke her hip yesterday.  i'll take the phone to my chair and hit the power button..............my son thinks my power chair is hilarious.  it takes a long time according to his "healthy well body" for the leg rest on the chair to go up or come back down...........he gets impatient.  i said that is just one small way you can perhaps understand how your momma's motor has slowed down sweetie...........it is plenty fast for me!
hugs, hope is yours........hope is mine. this little light of mine i'm gonna let it shine.

Thinking of you Ruthie, praying that the blues get chased away and that you get more of those things that \"just help you get through\" because there is a \"through\"! I found this out just today.
You are a wonderful, funny, outrageous person and friend and I am glad that you are in my circle, because of you---I am truly blessed. Hugs, Connie
