Cleaning up my diet at the same time

Trying to turn my life around takes work.
I've gone from gambling 5-7 days per week for 2-10 hours at a time, and nearly everyday eating fried food, fast food, or junk food to cutting it all out. I've realized that a lot of these habits are out of self-hatred, or at least strong self-dislike, or a lack of self-respect. I feel like I'm not as successful as I should be yet, that I slack off too much at work, or that I weigh too much and am not attractive enough, and then I affirm these beliefs and thoughts by slacking off, heading to the casino, eating too much, etc.
I have to turn my life around. I have to realize that I am beautiful and worthy of self-respect. I have to acknowledge I have special gifts and talents from God (as we all do, though they are different from person to person), and give myself every opportunity to shine and use these gifts and talents by not flooding myself with addictive behaviors and rotten foods. I need to nourish myself, take care of myself, and that means changing my self-talk and my behaviors.
This is not easy. I get weighed at the dietitian's office tomorrow and I'm scared that I've consumed too much sodium this week to have lost weight. But I'm optimistic that something should have moved the needle to the left. And if not, I also need to realize that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I need to acknowledge that progress doesn't always (or even usually) occur overnight.
