Bad mood, beans, cornbread, and crochet
I have a migraine that is blurring my vision (had it for 4 days -- it's really worse tonight, but it's not stopping me! I typed this on WORD in BIG font, then copied and pasted. Ha! Guess I showed that migraine who's boss!) and I’m still steaming over a certain “attitude” that was on the DS board today. Some of you can guess! I can't believe someone actually believes that nonsense! That one is going into my “does not exist” (DNE) category. So I’m gonna see if I can shake it all off by just being silly tonight.
Tonight’s fare at Pilot’s table: Yankee beans (That’s what I call ‘em. They’re really Jacob’s Cattle Beans, from Maine, my husband’s home state…….his mom’s recipe -- he has to have a little taste of “home” every now and then, even if he is proud to be totally Kentuckian now.... -- beans….cooked all day in the crockpot with hickory smoked bacon, molasses, onions, etc..…....I had never heard of Jacob's Cattle Beans until I went to ME to meet his family – now we grow them in the garden.), cornbread (Hubby’s family had never eaten cornbread until I went to ME -- we are all SO multi-cultural now! LOL Yeehaw and wicked-good..…that just don’t go together, does it? We are not bilingual.), and with the beans and cornbread, we had butter, 5-day sweet pickles, and ripe tomato relish. Everything homemade by me, myself and I (except for the butter). What do I get for it? Dirty dishes. I'm too tired to care.
Sigh, sigh, sigh. If you are reading this and you have single daughters tell them, or if you are a single lady yourself, listen to me: If you know how to cook, don’t you ever, I mean NEVER, under any circumstances, let a single man know it………….I don’t care how good lookin’ he is – don’t tell him! If you know how to sew, that’s even worse………..especially if that good lookin’ man is wearin’ some kinda uniform with them sew-on patches all over it…………like army BDU's! But you’re not gonna listen to me, are you? You’re just gonna look up at that good lookin’ man, and grin a big toothy, ear-to-ear grin (just like Barney Fife on that moonshine), and you’re gonna tell him all that and then some, aren't you? Alas, history is doomed to repeat itself. I told all that to my daughter, years ago. Did she listen???? Nooooooo.
Okay, now to a crochet song for Serce: I tried to write a positive, encouraging parody about crochet using “S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night” by the Bay City Rollers, but it just went way south on me. Maybe I should have used “16 Tons”, by Tennessee Ernie Ford………or “Big, Bad John”, or “The Y’all Come Back Saloon, or,"R-E-S-P-E-C-T", but I have “S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night” stuck in my brain for now. (Sorry, I don’t know how to link to the actual music like Serce does, but surely you’ve heard “S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night”???? It was a good song for roller skating.) I love it when Serce parodies! I, however, need practice! Or maybe I just need to quit!

I\'m not so sure that YEE-HAW and wicked good, don\'t go together! This is the 21st century. We have a whole new vocabulary now! \"Wanna take a selfie?\" The first time I heard that word I just stood there. Motionless. Didn\'t know to say. So I said nothing. I came home and called my daughter. She explained. Thank goodness. How about hashtag??? What kind of stupid word is that? Is it something you eat, smoke, or play in the school yard. Puh! Leave me alone!

That song is AWESOME! And you guys make me want to learn to cook, ya\'ll make these meals sound so delicious. I could sure use some beans right now. I hope that writing that song helped the migraine to lift somewhat.
