Back to The Basics
So I spent my first holiday weekend camping "old school" in a tent. It is a big change from camping in my RV last year. But then a lot has changed from one year ago. When I walked away from my husband, I walked away from my home, my RV, my cats and so much more. So this holiday weekend it was back to basics. And it was Ok. I didn't need an easy way out to camping. The kids and I built a tent, cooked on an outdoor stove, built a campfire and slept on an air mattress. We used the public restroom and shower which was a big difference from my own RV. But we did it. It was a good reminder about my gambling addiction. There is no easy fix from this disease. I have to go back to the basics. I have to work the steps. I have to go to GA Meetings. I need to find a sponsor. I loved being away at the lake camping. It was so surreal and peaceful. Obviously I had no urge to gamble since I spent three nights camping with my kids. I am taking one day at a time. I had a slip a few weeks ago and I knew I had to get up and dust myself off. Life is good today. My plans for the next two weeks are to keep busy with the graduation party for my son and niece. It is turning out to be more of a family reunion. But I know it will be nice for us and my dad. The last time many of my extended family saw us was for my Momma's funeral last year. So it is good to meet under happier circumstances. Hope everyone has a GF day... xoxoxo Chargergirl

Good for you ! I LOVE tent camping. We (me, my two sons 23 & 24, and 8 of their friends) go every year for a 4 night 5 stay adventure. Its honestly my favorite thing to do all year ! Good luck with the graduation plans. STAY BUSY !
That sounds so nice. I am not a camping person but it always sound so nice. Especially spending time with your kids. They may not remember the nice toys you bought them but they will remember this camping trip for a long time to come. How wonderful!

Good for you! I may need to try camping again too. We lost our lake home to forclosure ( from my gambling and also the housing bubble - It was very bad timing when we bought) Now we can\'t afford to take trips but we could go camping. I don\'t know if my husband will do it though. I think I will ask him at least. Keep doing what you are doing Chargergirl as long as it works. Hugs! Cher
