Keeping Busy One Saturday Afternoon
A man living outside of L.A. bought weather balloons, tied them to his lawn chair, filled them with helium, packed a lunch, bought a six-pack, took his rifle, sat in the chair and released the anchor. "When it is time," he thought, "I'll shoot the balloons one at a time, until I drop slowly to the ground." Instead, he quickly soared to sixteen thousand feet.*
He drifted into L.A.X. airspace, where an airline pilot saw him and radioed in that he just flew past a man in a lawn chair floating from balloons, drinking beer and holding a rifle. Eventually, he "landed" with his balloons caught in power lines, with him still sitting in the lawn chair, dangling over a back yard. Once on land again, he was arrested. When asked, "What do you think you were doing?"He replied, "What's a fellow to do on a Saturday afternoon? Just sit there?"It is a true story. Is it harder to believe that the Creator of this expanding universe and one hundred billion galaxies containing billions of stars each, of planets unnumbered in other solar systems, of comets, of oceans, of insects, of every human being - loves you, knows you, and cares about you personally? Is it hard to believe that God pays particular attention to you? It is wonder and true that God loves you."God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference nowhere," said Empedocles** God's loving center is in you.

Yeah, I heard about that guy with the balloons. So many of us have trouble believing in God\'s heart for us because of our wounds. It takes some intentionality to get to a place where we can believe it. Thanks, Jack.
That guy had some creative ideas about how to entertain himself!
When we have ben told over and over again that we are unloveable, it is hard for us to believe this truth. May we all banish the old stories for the loving ones.
Amen, Denise. Blessings\'n\'Hugs.
