Almost Friday

Well, I made it through another day.  One more and I'll have made a whole week at work.  Cried this morning before I left, but haven't felt overwhelmed at all today.  One step forward, now just waiting for the two steps back.  Went to the bank today and closed out Gene's checking account.  I don't even know why he kept it.  He never used it and it had less than $50 in it.  He used to tell me it was his emergency gas money. I used to tell him it was more hassle than it was worth, but he always stuck to his guns.  Each day seems to bring something else to close out, finish up, take care of.  I called Social Security and notified them of Gene's death.  Didn't know that the funeral home had already taken care of it. Now I need to find the strength to deal with his retirement accounts.  I want to do a rollover so I won't have to pay taxes on the money.  Its not alot, but it's something I need to accomplish.  Maybe next week.  I also need to call the accountant that does my taxes and get some information from him.  I'm just not ready to deal with it yet.  My son stopped over last night just to chat -- what a great kid!  He changed the propane tank on my stove for me yesterday, too.  It's one of those things I'm going to have to learn to do on my own.  He's given me a preliminary lesson, but next time I'll have to watch him do it so I will be able to do it myself.  I don't want to put those kind of things on him.  He's still young and has a life of his own.  I'd rather save up my mom "tickets" for when I really need him to do something I totally can't!   One more day, then comes the weekend.  Still don't know which is harder, going to work or being here in this empty house on the weekends.  I'm setting a goal to mow my own grass this weekend.
