a moment of venting
my standards are really high when it comes to dogs. well when it comes to lots of things. and when it comes to how to treat your employees.
i'm pretty irritated that i am supposed to do things this woman's way when my style is much more attractive and the way i do it doesn't grow out shaggy and ugly... i hate the way she loses her patience with the dogs. and the other new groomer looses her patience the same way. it's not like they beat them, it's just that, and this might sound hokey or hippie dippy but it's REAL goddammit, they don't send out any loving energy toward the dogs. fuck i don't even know if they really like them all that much. sure, it's a job, but it's not JUST a job. it's a dog, full of life and ready to love. maybe the dog wiggles a little or hates having its face messed with, and that's frustrating when you want to get something to look a certain way. but it's a living flesh and blood creature. imagine taking your kid to get a haircut and the barber takes him by the shoulders and shakes him and says NO! when he keeps looking around. imagine the kid turns his head and the stylist moves it back into place gruffly and with aggression. what the fuck, man? i mean, i have had really rough days where a dog wasn't holding still and i felt myself losing my patience, and then i would beat myself up afterward because i felt like i was too stern with the creature. i wear lavender oil to work to keep me calm, so my calm energy transfers to these dogs and we have a pleasant experience on the grooming table. for as long as the dog is in my care i will love it as much as the owner does, and often times beyond that.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!
and the lady treats her bather like shit. the girl confided in me that she was looking for another job. i told her that i thought maybe they were family the way the boss treats her, but she said no. and now the other groomer is in on it?
not something i believe in.
time to get my resume back out there.
but i'm still remaining positive. at least i know my standards are high in all the right ways. maybe i can get an angel investor and open my own shop...

IMO a lot of employers are psychologically just modern-day slavers who are only nice to employees when it gets more work out of them than the alternative. :-/ I have to stay out of the on-the-job politics for the sake of my sanity; consequently I always end up hating the job.
