a little nervous
Hello everyone, Tomorrow is the big day. Steve will have scans at Carolinas Medical Center. This will be the first scan since the radiation. I am a little nervous. Steve has not mentioned worrying about it so I won't either. He has been working so hard to get the pool opened. We have agreed that if the liner or something major goes wrong with it we will fill it in. We have had it for 28 years and I am just tired of it. I would like to fill it in and build a new patio out back. But the thing won't die! He would be mad if he knew I wanted it to die, he won't hear of filling it in just yet. The thing is I don't get in unless it is about 90% . He and the grandaughter get in when she is here. He does all the care of it so why am I complaning? I hate to see him in the heat, but I will just quit whining, just grateful he can still do it and it is good for him. Oh did I mention that I don't swim? If I don't quit fussing he will throw me in the deep end! and that will be the end of me.
I thought I would share a story of a young girl who lived about 10 miles from here. She was in nursing school and graduated with a RN degree. ( they had to present it in the hospital) She became really sick the last few weeks she went to school, complaining of gall bladder attacks. When they put her in the hospital and did the surgery the doctors discovered cancer. It had consumed her body. She was engaged to be married and within a month of being dianosed she was dead. It has left everyone around here in such shock. She was 21 years old. And really a very pretty young woman. She was buried yesterday. Her young husband to be is beside himself. Please pray for him and the family. Another one of those WHY questions?
I tell you this my DS family because the folks on this site know how to appreciate the days and even the hours we spend with our loved ones. Life is not promised to any of us, tell the ones you love every single day how much they mean to you. Share a few minutes doing nothing. I am "preaching to the choir" we know how to love each other don't we.
Prayers are appreciated for tomorrow. Scans make me nervous.
Love to each of you,
Wanda

Good Morning Wanda, It is always good to read your journals. Today is the day for us. We receive the results of last weeks CT scan at 1:45 p.m. It never stops being stressful. You go in there with two prime possibilities and your life can change in seconds. Realistically, if it is going to change, that has already happened...we just don\'t know it yet. We have been enjoying each others company and never stop saying how grateful we are for this time. Please, please God...let us be together for years and years more...Hugs, Vernell
Hi Wanda, I\'ll be praying for good scans for Steve tomorrow. I was so sorry to hear of the young girl who passed away from cancer so swiftly. What kind of cancer did she have? Looking forward to hearing Steve\'s good news tomorrow!
Love & hugs,
Lois
Dear sweet Wanda, many prayers for you and Steve as you go tomorrow for the scans. Also prayers for the young lady and her family. I agree with everyone we need to cherish every moment as we do not know what tomorrow will bring. luv and hugs from Texas, Annette
Dearest Wanda,
You can count on my prayers for you and Steve tomorrow. We all know how stressful these scans are. I have a very good feeling that his will show that the radiation worked.
What a sad, sad story about that beautiful young lady. Life seems so unfair at times. I will be praying for her husband to be and all her family. I can only imagine how heartbroken they all are.
Yes....every moment of life is a gift. Like you, I try to cherish each and every one. I must admit that it\'s hard to leave the worries of tomorrow alone....but I am praying for strength to be able to do that better.
Take care, my sweet friend. I\'ll be most anxious to learn about Steve\'s report. Please feel my hugs and love.
Ingrid
Wanda..Your journal speaks volumes...every day I tell my family and friends I love them if given the chace. I also tell my friends to go places and do things that they think they will do when they retire...one of both may never make it to retirement. So many friends tell me they are saving for a rainly day....why...live, laugh and love...dance in the rain and appreciate each day that has been given to us. I am so sorry for the family and future husband of that young women...words can not describe just how much I hate cancer....it hurts so many. I recently bought a bumper sticker that reads \"Liver Cancer Sucks\".....and the one beside it reads \"I\'m An Organ Donor, Are You?\".....I am trying very hard to send a message with them! I will keep my fingers croseed for a good report tomorrow!! Hugs to you, Ellen
Tragic story on the young lady. Prayers and great thoughts to you two on your upcoming scans
Wanda, you can preach to this choir anytime. Even after all that has happened, I still find that my kids don\'t get it. They charge headlong into work, kids games etc. I just wish they would take a little time for each other. I will pray for the young lady and her family, as well as hold good thoughts about the scan tomorrow. I loved the thought that you would have brought me the virtual flowers if I lived closer. Likewise, feel me holding your hand tomorrow telling you it will be ok. Prayers and best wishes Jane
Dear Wanda, I am keeping Steve (and you) in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know the results when you can. Also, thank you for reminding us about how precious our lives are. We can\'t take our life, nor that of our family and friends for granted. Love you, Linda
Praying for good news!
Love Julie
Steve and Wanda, you are in my prayers like always. I\'m with u on the pool a nice patio and a hot tub or spa would be my choice, maybe a really nice fire pit so you can have samores
Praying for good scans, peace and comfort for you both. Don\'t blame you for being nervous. Doesn\'t matter what our brains tell us, our hearts still flutter with nerves.
I hear you on that pool. I so just want to give up on mine. Had a new liner installed the day the pneumonia sent me to the hospital. After the installers left, I had to keep getting in and out to keep the wrinkles out. I was finally just so sick with 103 temp, I said forget it and still have two wrinkles that will just have to stay. The sickness kept me from attending to it right away. Then came the high water bill, the leaking pump parts, and the rain to wash away all the first batch of chemicals. I just want to scream! Those grand kids had darn well better swim A LOT this summer!
But just take that perfect day when the sun is out and you are floating on a mattress, relaxing with Steve and know that it is those moments that make it all worth while.
keep us posted
Hugs

I really hope and pray all comes out well. I read your journals when your write them to keep updated on you. When I think of him working on the pool I think of Bobby wanting to drive when he had cancer. Driving & his truck was his love. In our case he was really sick and I couldn\'t allow him to drive but he just wanted to maintain some sense of normalcy to take his mind off everything.
Like I said I am praying for your family and that all goes well & will look for your update.

So inviting you to go swimming is out I see , I will cross that off my list Wanda :). Well The C word really does get around .My sister had her surgery last week for uterine Cancer , Her brother in Law needs surgery and chemo for skin cancer and I just found out my neighbor across the street had surgery for cancer in December. Gee Wiz , enough already ...

Dearest Wanda,

Dear Wanda - how good to hear your voice. Many many prayers coming you and Steve\'s way for tomorrow. Scans are always nerve-wracking - never get easier. But, I\'m holding your hand symbolically all the way my dear friend.
What a tragic story about that young girl. It\'s easy to think of RCC as \'lucky\'....but our guys are sill here, still beside us. A blessing in that.
Ooh Wanda, a pool!!! It\'s always been my dream - but just not so feasible in damp old Yorkshire! So good that Steve can get out there and do physical work.
sending lots and lots of love, and a big old hug your way
