DAY 1
Well I did it. DAY 1 and it feels like I just climbed a mountain. I never thought there could be anyone who understood so well this fight I am going through right now. Then like a miracle I found this wonderful website with the most caring and supportive people. I believe in my heart I was directed here by my higher power. I am still at rock bottom but at least I have hope today that it can only get better. My auntie is going to bail me out with my financial problems this week (even though she doesn't really know that). But she is my Mommy's (God Rest Her Soul) sister and she was like a 2nd mother to me growing up. I asked her for the exact amount of money I needed to pay all my bills this week so I was not tempted to gamble the extra. I feel a huge relief but know it is only a temporary solution to this financial battle I have. Knowing I have support here fighing the fight with me gives me hope to be GF today.

I\'m with you all the way!! Day 4 for me. Trying to get out of my financial mess too without going deeper in debt. We don\'t have to live this way anymore! Just think how good is gonna be a few months down the road being GF!! Stay strong and let\'s kick this demon to the curb!!

Lisa... Congrats on Day 4!! These small steps we are taking is just the beginning of our road to a better life. I don\'t want to get deeper in debt with more money borrowed but this small bailout will help settle the money I owe to my immediate family. My auntie is going to give me a few months to pay her back (God bless her!!) I am thankful for this small blessing because I felt so much despair yesterday. I am just not ready to spill my secret addiction to my immediate family so I would rather pay their debt. God willing I remain GF and my financial situation will definitely improve within the next few months. One day at a time... xoxoxo
Hey , well done. One suggestion though. When paying your bills have someone you trust with you to make sure you write all the checks or pay all the cash or whatever way you pay bills. Our minds can tell us to pay half the bills and go gambling with the rest.
Im not saying that will happen to you , but in the early stages or recovery we are still vulnerable.

John... Thanks for your advise. Your post is giving me the courage to confide in my sister today. She was aware of my gambling problem 16 years ago but no one is aware that I have a problem today. It is such a dirty shameful addiction. But I know I need to learn to trust that my sister will be supportive and not judge me. My heart is racing knowing I am meeting my auntie this evening to get the money. I wish they had \"people blinders\" like they do for horses. That way I can drive there and back blinded to my demon surroundings. Wish me luck... leaving work in 2 hours to get the money from my auntie!!
chargegirl, I had to fess up to a sister, too. and a younger sister at that. but the good news is she makes sure my bills are paid: with my money. when I get paid, I withdraw so much, put in her account, and she takes care of the bills online, etc. somebody had to help me cause I could not be trusted. and to keep from HURTING her, I always put that money in first. we are wishing you well...... enjoy the rest of your evening.
Saying prayers for you Charger!!!! Hope the meeting with your Auntie went well!! Be sure to ask your sister to help you manage your money. It will help you!!
