Mother's day

Mother's Day is a little difficult for me because it marks the anniversary of the last time I spoke with my mom.  When I called her two days later to see how she was enjoying the gift I had gotten her the paramedics answered the phone.  They were trying to resuscitate her.  She didn't make it.  I never got to talk to her on the phone I bought her and ended up returning it to the store.

It doesn't help that my dad's bday is around Mother's Day too - May 8.  He would have been 79.  He still comes to me in my dreams telling me what I'm doing right/wrong in that endearing obnoxious way of his.

My TalkSpace therapist told me to keep a gratitude journal.  She told me to list 5 things/people/events that I am appreciative for and add value to my life.  At first I thought I don't even have 5 people in my life, LOL.  But then I thought, well My brother's family.  There's five people right there I'm grateful for: Chris, Shelia, Stephanie, Laura and Bradley.  I wish I saw more of them.  Then of course I'm grateful for Victor.  As far as "things", I'm grateful my 12 year old car still runs.  I'm grateful for pillows.  As far as "events" - I'm grateful I have company paid disability in addition to SSDI cuz I couldn't survive without it.

(((HUGS))) I hope tomorrow goes as easy as it can on you. I bet your mom would want you to remember her and be happy and celebrate the life she did have. I\'m sure you miss her every single day.
