5 Years Ago December 29......

5 Years Ago December 29, 2006 I sat at my son's funeral.  December 29, 2011 I sat at my Granny's bedside as she took her last breath.  Words cannot express how I am feeling.  I am sorry for being away so long. My Granny lived 95 long years.  She was ready to go home.  She prayed to go.  She was admitted into the hospital the Tuesday before Christmas Eve.  I prayed Lord please let her hold on until after Christmas.  How selfish of me.  Her so ready to go and me thinking I could not bear to lose her at Christmas too.  She was moved to Kitty Askins the day after Christmas and went down hill fast.  I was able to tell her how much I loved her.  I was not able to tell Josh.  I told her to make sure she told him when she saw him in heaven that I love him and miss him.  Another chapter in my life closed.  I was the first grandchild to her Granny.  I am the oldest.  She helped raised my brothers, cousins and myself as our parents worked.  She was the rock to our family.  My heart aches for her but I know it is what she wanted.
This is something I wrote for her:
Gift from heaven above.
Radiant Smile
An angel watching over her family in good and bad.
Natural loving, caring and giving woman.
Never letting you down.
Young at heart till the day she was called home.

Your Granny has found her way home. She was blessed and, I\'m certain, very grateful to have you by her side. May she rest in peace ~ a life well-lived and rest well-deserved.

Sending love and tight hugs of comfort ~ Debbie

Oh Rhonda...I am so sorry about your Granny. Our lives are ever changing...and not always easy changes. I am glad that you were able to be there with her...she sounds like a wonderful woman. When my mom passed it was so hard...but there came a time when I allowed myself to feel some peace...she was ready to go. Knowing how she was prepared brought me comfort and I knew that she lived with grace in her life and passed with grace...it sounds as if your granny did too. We know that they have peace now...it is US that live without them that have to struggle. You will find your way through this my friend...holding your hand...love you...Karen

Rhonda, I am so sorry about your Granny. I can tell by your words the love you have for her. I know you will miss her, but I bet she gave Josh the biggest hug and let him know that was from his momma. Thinking of you....Love, Kim

Rhonda,
I am very sorry to hear of your Grandmother\'s passing. I know you are heart broken and feeling empty and numb. I love what you wrote for her. I too was the first grandchild and the only one until my middle teens. Our relationship was truly blessed and Grandma and Grandpa were my best friends when I felt I had no one else I could trust. The importance of Grandparents is so vital.
With love, Leda

Oh Rhonda....my heart sighs and rejoices.... What a well lived, blessed life, and what a gift your sweet granny was, and is, to you and all of her family. I know the timing of her transition added pain for you....I hear you...I\'m sorry. I can see in my hearts eye Josh rushing to Granny in that moment of transition, embracing her as never before...and she him. What a beautiful picture that paints in my mind. I pray it comforts your heart as well. Josh was most definitely on my mind Dec 24, as we crossed McIntosh Rd getting into the parking lot for our cruise. I sent out a big PEACE shout and lots of love. I will forever say JOSH on Dec 24th...I will forever LOVE his momma!

Rhonda, loving care at this fragile time dear one. Another one of your most beloved cheerleaders has gone on and I know she delivered that message to Josh as soon as she could. Josh knows your heart yet I understand the comfort it can bring to be able to speak these words to another to take to our angels.

Oh, you are the first grandchild... that is such an incredible bond and there is love for all of them yet something that is so very unique and special between the grandparents and their first. You felt this with granny as she did with you.

You do everything that you can to take care of you dear friend and please give John a hug from me as well.

I have MISSED you yet I certainly understand.... feel my love and support surrounding YOU.
Love you!
Tight, tight hugs.

I\'m so sorry. No matter the age and time, it\'s still so hard to let go of some-one you have loved. She sounded wonderful having had a rich, decent life until it was her time to leave - but leaves behind such love and memories for you on this earth. Peace to her and Josh ~ and you x.

I am so sad to hear this loss for you...but am happy for your Granny who is enjoying the Heaven that God promises awaits us...I believe Grandmothers are the core of many families....as I had one I loved so very very much...and of course, now that I am one.....I feel like I am the loving matriarch as was my grandmother...\"Mammaw\"....it will be sad for you but now Josh is being kept company with his Granny...that is a wonderful thing. (The date Dec 29th...is the day my father died 24 years ago....right in front of me as did your granny)......Hugs and love...dale, brandon\'s mom
