So I found out yesterday that I would have to work a double on Friday. I didn't want to and I'm not happy about it but I understand that these things happen at my job sometimes. Just before I left work today I get the call that I have to work doubles on Saturday and Sunday as well. Thats 3 17hr. shifts in a row. Fuck me!! I'm not happy about it and I don't want to do it but I have no choice. I'm trying to have a good attitude about it though. As I said, these things happen sometimes in my work. I still like my job and I'm not mad at the person forcing me to work all those hours its just the way it goes sometimes. All that said it still fucking sucks! I just don't know how I'm going to handle it. I've worked two doubles in a row before but never 3. I'm worried about what the lack of sleep will do to me. Will I fall into a depression? Will it trigger mania or hypomania? I may even start hallucinating who knows. The money will be great and there is a part of me that looks at this as a challenge. I am trying to tell myself, "you can do this Michael" but I just don't know. Anyway, enough bitching about it. What happens will happen, good or bad. I'm relaxing now and trying to cultivate a more positive attitude about it and spending some quality time with Edgar because with me gone ALL day 3 days in a row he will get lonely so that bothers me a bit. He's a good cat and I'm sure he will be fine. Ok, I think thats it for know.

I think you have a great attitude Michael! I think this is just one of those times that both sucks and you kind of have to suck it up and just do it. Maybe you can have someone look in on Edgar? Just a thought. Peace to you and good luck with the challenge!

I understand your concerns and I would be worried too. It is sad that jobs are not more accommodating to mental illness. I know sometime letting them know can hurt you too. (((((hugs)))))

I have to work 3 12s in a row sometimes. That\'s nothing compared to 17s, but I can tell you what I do too try to be well... I eat really nutritious food and snacks; drink water, coffee, water; shower as soon as I get home, have a nice warm dinner, then off to bed to read for veg out to Netflix for about an hour, then to sleep. I know this isn\'t your first 3-day, but I hope you will remember that it will end. I count every day so I can say to myself, ok, only one more day, then one more day. After tomorrow only one more.

And I worry ab my cats too. I know they really don\'t like when I\'m gone more than 2 days in a row. They cope though. And I\'m sure you give him a few extra snuggles for the few hours you are home.

You can do it but I agree that 3 doubles is a lot especially since sleep and quie t time always helps. Give yourself a little treat for a hard task when you get home at night. Feed those angel cats a treat! Hugs
