Life...

I have a lot to journal about so I think it will be a few entries this week.  Just wore myself out though so just one for today.
My electricians had me on the floor in tears last weekend.  I was just sooo frustrated and overwhelmed and just totally CFSing.
They have two projects they are currently working on for me.  Both were short, one was estimated at 3 days and the other 1 day.  Its three weeks and counting and both are still unfinished.  What had me boo hooing is that they are fully paid up because the last time they came, I did a walkthrough showing them everything which needed to be fixed and I was assured the work would be properly completed.  I wasn't doing so well that day so when they finished in the evening I could not check their work.  I had to pay them.  Two days later when I mustered the energy to make it up the stairs I was devastated.
They have pulled apart my 2nd and 3rd floors.  Everything is covered in dust 1/2 thick. (masonry walls are a beast to run electrical in after the fact).  They had stood on my dining table and broke it.  They had electrical crap thrown down on my glass table.  They broke a couple of my glasses.  The place was just pulled apart and their work was far from complete.
In my master bedroom (which I really want to move back into before the surgery) they had disabled the previously working circuits so they could make the minor changes I requested.  It was so much worse off than when they started.  After I called the electrician in tears he eventually came back, spent 4 hours and sorted out the bedroom.  He still has to come back this weekend to finish up the other stuff.
What's worse is they were mad at me!?!  They raised the quoted price by 30% and I paid it, then they tried to raise it again, I held firm and this was the beginning of the end.  So they are ticked, I am ticked and another good relationship bites the dust.  Always happens, they estimate 2 days, take 10 and expect me to pay the difference!  Note: I accepted the first increase because they work was harder than they thought because of poor work by those before.  The rest though was simply in my opinion their poor management of their time.  I refuse to pay for it....AAARGH
I spent a few hours today searching for carpet.  For some reason that seems to not be the easiest thing to find.  I had to head downtown.  Blessedly I got parking right outside the carpet store (very rare thing to find parking downtown).    Unfortunately the store did not have the size I needed.  I ended up (quite unwillingly) walking around Downtown for about 2 hours.  I am pleased that I was able to do it, but if the pain is any indication, my body is not too happy with me right now.
BTW : did not get a carpet.
Hope you are having a good week DS friends.

DS ate my comment. I\'ll do this again, in a shorter version. Basically I let your Electrician people have it right between the eyes. I know people that have sued for less damage than you incurred. I really think shoddy business people should pay through the nose. Our lives are tough enough without idiots breaking our things, not meeting deadlines and then charging extra.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Ok, better.

I\'m sorry you didn\'t get carpet! We have wall to wall. I insisted on it when we moved into this house. As much as I love hard wood floors, my osteoporosis does not, so we carpeted the place. I do love our burgundy carpet though. I sure hope you are able to find what you are looking for. Maybe you could take one giant throw rug and toss it over the electricians when they come back!!!!! oops. did I just type that outloud???

How can electricians be that incompetent without electrocuting themselves???
And, they owe you a table to replace the one they broke! Have they ever heard of ladders and scaffolds?

contractors are a breed unto themselves........they have their own rules, a very strange code of conduct........and we gotta know that they are sly rule bending stinkers of the worst kind. going forward i truly hope that you can get things straightened out with them and any other workers. i hate that you ended up in tears........that tells me the level of frustration was WAY TOO HIGH for dear sweet you............man that is just so wrong! they need to get you a replacement table or buy you a new one......what in blue plaid heck........take a couple of days to chill.......go sit by the beautiful view and do nothing please..............gonna hug you now.........blessings and breezes to you island queen!!!!
