Thanks to all of you who commented on my latest journal entry.  It's feels good to know I'm not alone in all this.  My counselor tells me that one day I'll wake up and just decide it's time to go through his clothes and get rid of them, but I'm certainly not there yet.  Going through his work room was hard enough.  I've been doing better these past two weeks except for yesterday.  I woke up crying and didn't make it to work.  But I've been adding an extra hour onto the time I do spend there and hope to start getting back full-time within the next week or so.  I'm still taking it day by day and I'm not ready to commit to anything yet.  I'm going to meet a friend today and do a little shopping.  Not that I need anything but just to get out of the house for awhile. Later I may make my way out to the garage and do a little cleaning up out there.  Gene had one workbench that is just covered with "stuff" that I'd like to get cleared off.  My son really hasn't had the time to do alot out there.  There are just some things I can't bear the thought of doing so I do what I can.  There is still a lot to do in his work room but it involves going through his coats and shoes and I just can't get myself to do that right now so I'll do what I can.

I haven\'t touched a thing....his glasses are still hanging from the lamp next to his chair....his clothes all in the closet....so don\'t feel bad that you haven\'t tackled that stuff, I hope your counselor is right and one day we WILL wake up and know it\'s time....all I know is that today isn\'t that day. I just got hit with such a slam of emotion....I still just can\'t believe he is gone...in 8 days it will be 7 months since the stroke...in 12 days....7 months since he passed.

Hi - I read both of your journals and wanted to let you know something. My step-father had everything single tool ever made too. He was worth millions and still had to fix everything. God forbid he hired someone, nope! LOL For some reason my mom kept a lot of them thinking \"one day\" she could use them. Sweeite, she has become so good at fixing things with stuff she never thought she would use. Even to pieces of wood. Don\'t get me wrong, she did finally get rid of things that there were like 4 each of of but kept 2 of them for back up. Shoot, she even brought down 2 snow shovels here and we are in the South but have used them twice. So, maybe just organize his stuff for now. She has every single screw, nail, etc. Once she had to learn how to do things, you would be amazed at why he kept a lot of it. Will she use all of it, more than likely not, but just in case, is better than not having them because you won\'t know until you need it. If that makes any sense? I\'m also soooooo glad you went out with your friend. Good for you for getting out for a while. Those are the baby steps I was talking about that my step-mother refuses to do and you know where she is at mentally. Love you so much - Oh and don\'t worry about his clothes, that will come when it is time. Your time and you will know it when the times comes. Sorry I couldn\'t get to your journal but I hope todays reply is ok, I promise you I read both today. Love ya!
