Doing a little better today.  Made it through work but it was pretty boring.  I got a letter in the mail from the attorney I interviewed with last week saying he hired someone else, no big surprise.  I made gyros for dinner last night and the kids loved them.  My son didn't make it last night because he went to an Orioles game with his friend, so I have his leftovers in the frige for him to pick up after work tonight.  He's been having a hard time just like me.  Of course, my counselor warned me that it could get worse before it got better.  The weather here is beautiful and I've opened the house back up and it feels wonderful.  It's supposed to be like this for at least the next week, so I'll save on my electric bill!  One day without crying, now there's an accomplishment.  Maybe the meds the doctor prescribed are starting to have an affect, or maybe it's just that things might start getting a little easier from here on out.  I'm looking forward to fall but dreading the holidays.  My good friend keeps telling me I need to start a new tradition this year without Gene, so there's something to think about.  If it wasn't for my son and the fact that he doesn't get anytime off, I'd hop on a plane with him and spend the holidays somewhere else, but I can't leave him here all by himself.   Two days of work down, three to go.  Hope it gets busier or else I'll be pulling my hair out!

My mom did do things differently on her first holiday without my step father. My step mother just decided to do nothing. My mom\'s way did better. She alowed her friends to drag her out to places, even when she didn\'t want to go. Felt like a 3rd wheel, etc. Her friend\'s never thought of her as that. They wanted her company. I think people use the 3rd wheel thinking because they are the ones that don\'t like being single with married couples. Not the other way around. She said in looking back it was the best thing she could have ever done. Even when it didn\'t feel like it at the time. I do know the \"first\" are horrible but the 2nd\'s do have different memories. If that makes any sense. I am SOOOO happy about you having a good week. Now you just have to not feel guilty about it, ok. It is like Fall here too. All of the windows are open and sleeping with fresh air last night gave me one of the best night\'s sleep in ages. Love you girl - hugs!
