AN UPDATE!
HELLO, I'M JUST WRITING TO LET MY FRIENDS KNOW THAT MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ALZEHEIMERS. IT'S MOSTLY HIS SHORT TERM MEMORY THAT'S AFFECTED RIGHT NOW. WE ARE BLESSED BECAUSE WE HAVE GREAT SONS AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAWS WHO ARE A BIG SUPPORT TO ME AND THEIR FATHER. WE ALSO HAVE A GREAT SUPPORT FROM OUR CHURCH FAMILY FROM THE PASTOR RIGHT DOWN TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION. PLUS I HAVE A LOT OF SUPPORT FROM MY FRIENDS ON DS.
I JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS JOURNAL. I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A BLESSED NIGHT. HUGS, CHRIS

I am very sorry to hear of your husband\'s diagnosis. I will keep you, your hubby and family in prayer. I am so happy to hear what a great support system you have. That makes such a huge difference! God\'s blessings, love and peace to you.
You, your husband and family will be in my thoughts and prayers. You are so fortunate to have such a wonderful support system nearby. What a wonderful blessing. Just know we are always here if you need to talk or...whatever! Hugsxxxx
I am so very sorry to hear of this diagnosis. You must be reeling. It is very important that you have a chance to get out once in awhile and take care of yourself. My husband did home care for a gentleman who had this disease, and it was difficult but had so many rewards, including letting his wife to get out of the house everynow and then. There is a book that is so very helpful. I believe it is called the 36 hour day. If you cant find it, let me know. You have my love and support and of course will be in our prayers. Bless you both.
Hi -- I know that this is a scarey thing. But to add a positive note, my dad, who is now 85 was diagnosed 10 years ago. Even without an early diagnosis,(he\'d been going downhill mentally for several years) the medical treatment has improved amazingly. He\'s doing great -- no short term memory, but he\'s in assisted living, always recognizes me when I call, and is a very happy person. Still tells jokes and laughs -- even if he DOES tell the same jokes over and over. Even still gives one tennis lesson a week -- that was his profession.
Remember to take care of YOU!!!
Kim
HELLO, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY PRAYERS OR HUGS FOR THAT MATTER. WE JUST GOT BACK FROM BREAKFAST WITH OUR SON AND FAMILY. I TRY TO GET MY HUSBAND OUT EVERYDAY EVEN IF IT\'S JUST FOR BREAKFAST. WE GO TO THE SAME PLACE EVERYDAY. THEY KNOW US THERE AND IF FOR SOME REASON WE CAN\'T MAKE IT THERE WE HAVE TO CALL AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT\'S GOING ON. LOL! IF WE DON\'T, THEY WORRY.
JUST WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE AGAIN. I\'LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON HOW THINGS ARE GOING. I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A BLESSED DAY. HUGS, CHRIS
My prayers are with you both, Chris. You are blessed to have such support and please know we are all here for you too...
Big hugs to you... Rach
There are some good meds out there to take in early years of disease, helps stop the progression. Hope you have a great dr. Bless you!
MY HUSBAND IS SEEN BY THE HEAD NEUROLOGIST AT THE VETERANS HOSPITAL HE\'S ON MEDICATION NOW. THANK YOU FOR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. I HOPE YOU HAVE A BLESSED NIGHT. HUGS, CHRIS
I know it\'s a repeat question, but how does your Husband seem to be dealing with the diagnosis? When I last worked they were more advanced in the disease by the time a diagnosis was made that it had little or no effect on the patient, but I imagine that is very different now with such early diagnosis? My prayers are with you both!
Praying for you and hubby, your great supportive family and just gotta give you a giant hug..........xxxxxxooooooxxxxxxxoooooxoxxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxo Take good care Chris..........God Bless You! xoxo
My heart is with you honey.Praying for you two as well. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))
Wonderful to know that you have such a large and loving family and community supporting both of you. My father in law has Alzheimer\'s.
Prayer/Meditation and Compassion for you both. Hugs xo
HELLO, THANK YOU EVERYONE AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS. MY HUSBAND IS DEALING WITH THIS NEWS AS GOOD AS CAN BE EXPECTED. SAME AS ME. THE HARDST THING FOR BOTH OF US IS REALIZING THAT EVENTUALLY HE WON\'T REMEMBER NAMES OR WHO WE ARE. RIGHT NOW IT\'S JUST HIS SHORT TERM MEMORY-LIKE DATES AND SOMETIMES THINGS I\'VE TOLD HIM. HUGS, CHRIS
I\'m sorry your husband has had this diagnosis. I\'m sending you big hugs xxxxx
Im so sorry to hear that. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
