Goal Update

Just noting that I have accomplished one of my goals; being more active. Since I created my goal, I have considered it 5% progress per week if I followed my plan. I figure that once I go twenty weeks doing something, it will become a habit, and it's true. I have totally changed my exercise habit and it has been very rewarding.
I was actually quite an athlete as a child. I didn't do group sports because I have social anxiety issues, but I was a gymnast, swam all the time, rode my bike everywhere, and figure skated. I also climbed trees and cliff sides and did stuff like that. Physical activity has always been fun for me, and I’m very strong, but in the last several years I slowed down a lot.
I have a sit down job that keeps me behind my desk every day, and honesty I just became too much of a stoner, kicking back and smoking pot in my spare time. Also, the people I have surrounded myself with have not been active, so that has influenced me. I was out of shape and feeling unhappy and unhealthy, but I have turned that around. When I set up this goal I made it simple, do sit-up once a day, ride my bike once a week and take walks. Now, I do all that and I also swim twice a week and do yoga three times a week, and it feels great. I'm very self-conscious about my body, I don't like to exercise in front of people and I'm also embarrassed to dance, but I even made myself do a zumba class and I actually had fun. I took a pilates class too. I’m trying to work though my fears and it feels good.
I find I have a lot more energy in general and I feel so much better. Sometimes I feel so good I imagine that I might be able to do a round-off or something ;-) and then I think, “hmm, maybe not, not yet.” I don't know how I made it through childhood without breaking my neck. I’m not in the shape I want to be in yet, but I’ve changed my habit and I’m well on my way. Best of all, I'm having fun doing it.
