I sent the letter today and talked to Bill again. Bill is now trying to get me to stay. He wants me to meet with him and Mike this week and try to ‘work things out’. Well he should of said that yesterday. I’m not going to go against what I had set down already. I said what I am doing and I am sticking by that. I will not take my resignation back.
Yes I am still terrified that I may of made the wrong decision.
After speaking to Bill on the phone I was very upset again and so I took my ferrets to Petsmart to get pictures with Santa! It was cute :)

Here is the letter I sent; i feel that it was pretty decently written.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the rest of Langley Crew for giving me the opportunity to coach the novice squad. However, at this time in my life I have come to the conclusion that the best decision for me is to resign from my position as Novice Men’s Coach for Langley Crew.  I do have a long history with Langley crew and it breaks my heart to have to do this, but given the current circumstances I feel that this is the best decision for both me and Langley crew.
In order for me to be an effective coach and role model for Langley crew I need to be able to believe in the head coach and support his decisions 100%. Unfortunately, I am not able to do that at this time.
The recent decision to take a freshmen rower after only a few weeks of winter training to the varsity squad, even to just try it out, I believe is not the appropriate action to take for the long term success of Langley crew. This is a key principle that I feel very strongly about. I believe that freshmen with no prior rowing experience need to have a full year of experience with others in the same situation to receive the appropriate foundation to be able to succeed on the JV/Varsity level.
It is this decision and other previous decisions and actions, that I have been able to overlook, that have made my decision to resign from my position. I regret having to put Langley crew into the situation of losing their novice coach, but if I were to leave, now is the best time in order to allow Langley to find a replacement coach.  It would only be a disservice to me and Langley crew if I were to continue given that fact that I am not able to fully support the current head coach.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I wish you and Langley Crew the best and hope you have a successful 2011-2012 season. Perhaps I will see you all on the water.
