home again
We finally arrived home at midnight on Monday. It was a long flight to say the least but we had a good time in the East.
We drove to Ottawa to visit Cevyn (our granddaughter). She is a delightful young woman who is now driving her own car. I got to go for a ride. I was so happy that I got to spend some time with Lisa's 2 best friends as well. Nancy and Lisa were going to design and open a nurse run clinic. Nancy was going to do the nursy stuff and Lisa the administrative. Nancy was devastated but carried on with her dream. Her clinic is now open and I got a tour. As we walked around, we would meet staff. I was invariably introduced as Lisa's mom. I guess I looked surprised because Nancy said "I talk about Lisa all the time". I got quite teary eyed.
Mona wanted to start a business too, and guess what? She wanted Lisa to be her admin person too. I wonder how things would have been, had Lisa lived.
Harvey behaved like the jack ass that he is. We did go for dinner with him and Cevyn as her friend told me that Cevyn was upset that Harvey and us were not getting along. I must say I was civil but the tension was there. I think Cevyn was pleased so it was worth it.
After Ottawa, we went down to Maine to visit my friend's daughter. She is a few years younger than Lisa but they were friends. We had a delightful time at their cabin on Monson Pond. They have 2 preschoolers so it was a joy to play with them. They also have a wiry kitten named Bob Marley. He is hilarious to watch. It was just what I needed to unwind. We stayed there a day longer to see an Amish barn raising. It was quite phenomenal.
We stayed at the Hyatt Harborside at the airport on our last night. We loved being on the 14th floor overlooking the city. It was pricey but we were tired and the shuttle to the airport sounded so good.
I don't think I will fly United again if I can help it. They charge for bags, TV etc. And the plane from Jersey to Calgary was a commuter plane. To me that means it is small, very old, very noisy and very hot. We felt like mush when we got home. But we are here now.
I am a bit down now but that will change tomorrow when my great niece and her 2 kids come to visit tomorrow.
Lisa: You know how much I miss you and how much it hurts. But I would not have traded those 37 years for anything. I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

You write so poignantly....I love reading your journals. It was great meeting you at the retreat. I feel good when I am with Melissa\'s friends, I feel such a connection with them. I know how much they are still hurting after almost 5 years. Love and Hugs, Connie
It was a marvelous seeing old friends and knowing they too love Lisa and speak of her often is so heartwarming. I understand how it feels because when Jason\'s friends talk fondly of him it makes me burst with emotions.
Big Tight Hugs Marlene, and I hope to see you next year.
Terry
Glad you had a good visit with Cevyn and Lisa\'s friends - you certainly get around! I hear you about United - used to fly them a lot back to the UK until just about every plane I was on had some kind of mechanical problem and was delayed or cancelled :( Enjoy your visit with your great niece and fam. ~ Joanna x
i hope we meet next year at Lake Tahoe. and I\'m glad you\'re home, safe and well. Sorry about all that tension with soninlaw. Can\'t be helped. I am told to see people as just wearing different packages, and to look further into their beings. The way we do with writing to one another. Soul to soul.
Happy you had time with gdaughter, and Lisa\'s friends. It\'s sad to imagine where our beloved\'s lives would be now. We know how appreciated they were whilst alive. Love to you my soth, Abby
I am happy for you that you had such a fulfilling trip and are safely home! Now, time for a much needed rest, my friend!
Peace.
Wow, sounds like a wonderful trip. Seeing the granddaughter and your lovely son in law, lol. Now you have company coming to visit you. What a very full life you have....
(((HUGS)))...Julia
I can only imagine how wonderful it is to know how much Lisa\'s skills and presence were valued... I felt a bit choked up reading it and imagining what a blessing that was to you. Sounds like you all had quite a nice extended vacation to.
So great that you got to see your granddaughter. I am sorry for the tension but so glad you made the effort because as you said it was good for Cevyn. I often think Cara loves her kids through me... so its a gift to both of them and me too when I can show them love and support for her.
We were up in Canada 2 years ago... I was amazed over and over at how pretty it was... We went to Toronto first and Richard to the top of the CN tower... I do not like heights so I stayed down on the ground... When we fly I sit away from the window and try to sleep till it is over... We went to a game at the Skydome... The Blue Jays vs the Boston Red Sox... I was unable to do the stairs at all at the time... but we had handicapped seating and it was very nice... Then we went to Niagara Falls Canadian side... Lots to see... what I liked the most was the firework display... oooh that was pretty the fireworks above the water.. oh... I loved the Skylon restaurant too sooo much... Really it was a bit pricey... but one of the best steaks I can recall... Anyhoo... I better quit bending your ear... *Smile* Hope to see you next year in Lake Tahoe. Hugs Elissa
it so good that lisa dream was reached through her friend ,its heartbreaking that we loose our kids so sad hugs
I can just see you there, at the clinic, being introduced...and yes, brings tears to my eyes too....
So glad you were able to spend time with Ceyvn....sorry Harvey had to be his usual DH self!
I watched a church go up in the rain once....it was a Seventh Day Adventist. It was all members of the church building it, and was quite fascinating to watch. I would have loved to have watched the Amish barn raising. Just something about that mentality of community effort...all for one and one for all, sort of thing. We don\'t have enough of that in our country....
Glad you\'re home, even if you had to fly by puddle jumper, at least you can now rest and prepare for what\'s next. Cause with YOU, something is ALWAYS next!!!
LOVE YOU!
Love to Lisa!
You are a gypsy at heart. Traveling around as you do. My grandmother was like that, she had a beautiful soul. Lisa\'s friends sound wonderfull her life and heart were big. Your paitients is great esp when dealing w/ SIL. the grandkids are worth it. Enjoy your down time.
Great big Hugs Penny
Glad you made it home safe. You will always be Lisa\'s mom, I am glad that her friends still talk about her! Love you, angela
Such a great tribute to Lisa. I always found comfort being around Doug\'s friends, hearing them talk about him. As the years progressed that connection waned, and especially now that I have moved to Florida I barely hear from any of his friends, a couple of the girls keep in touch because we have become good friends. I would love to travel like you do, maybe some day. Enjoy your visit with your great niece and kiddies! sue xo
Marlene, Cevyn is such a grown up now isn\'t she? Driving and growing into womanhood. What a joy she is for you like my grandkids are for me. Lisa did a wonderful joy raising her.
Meeting up with Lisa\'s friends must be such a blessing too. Just to hear their love for her and how Nancy speaks of Lisa always at the clinic; so much so that the staff knew of her and you as her mom. Lisa\'s gifts continue....much love, Linda
Grateful you arrived home safely and your travels included SO much. Most of all the time spent with Cevyn and of course, Lisa\'s friends. What a JOY to have her spoken of and for you to be introduced as her mum. Those are special healing moments.
Hoping you are having fun now with your family and you are indeed a mover and a shaker dear Marlene. :)
I hear you on the airlines! We flew home yesterday on a Delta flight and it was SO dirty. It had landed in JFK from Puerto Rico and was a bit late so I don\'t think they did hardly a thing to clean it before we boarded to fly home to Salt Lake City. Flying is something else these days, isn\'t it?
Love to Lisa and always to you dear Marlene and was so happy that we shared some time at the retreat. Not long enough yet I\'ll take it. :)
XO Joanie
So happy you are home safe and that you have had some lovely experiences with your granddaughter and Lisa\'s friends.
The clinic has Lisa at it\'s heart and that is truly love, what matters!
I wish we had more time to talk at the retreat, but we can continue for the coming year. Blessings to you!!!xoxoxo
