home again

We finally arrived home at midnight on Monday.  It was a long flight to say the least but we had a good time in the East.
We drove to Ottawa to visit Cevyn (our granddaughter).  She is a delightful young woman who is now driving her own car.  I got to go for a ride.  I was so happy that I got to spend some time with Lisa's 2 best friends as well.  Nancy and Lisa were going to design and open a nurse run clinic.  Nancy was going to do the nursy stuff and Lisa the administrative.  Nancy was devastated but carried on with her dream.  Her clinic is now open and I got a tour.  As we walked around, we would meet staff.  I was invariably introduced as Lisa's mom.  I guess I looked surprised because Nancy said "I talk about Lisa all the time".  I got quite teary eyed.
Mona wanted to start a business too, and guess what?  She wanted Lisa to be her admin person too.  I wonder how things would have been, had Lisa lived.
Harvey behaved like the jack ass that he is.  We did go for dinner with him and Cevyn as her friend told me that Cevyn was upset that Harvey and us were not getting along.  I must say I was civil but the tension was there.  I think Cevyn was pleased so it was worth it.
After Ottawa, we went down to Maine to visit my friend's daughter.  She is a few years younger than Lisa but they were friends.  We had a delightful time at their cabin on Monson Pond. They have 2 preschoolers so it was a joy to play with them.  They also have a wiry kitten named Bob Marley.  He is hilarious to watch.  It was just what I needed to unwind.  We stayed there a day longer to see an Amish barn raising.  It was quite phenomenal.
We stayed at the Hyatt Harborside at the airport on our last night.  We loved being on the 14th floor overlooking the city.  It was pricey but we were tired and the shuttle to the airport sounded so good.
I don't think I will fly United again if I can help it.  They charge for bags, TV etc.  And the plane from Jersey to Calgary was a commuter plane.  To me that means it is small, very old, very noisy and very hot.  We felt like mush when we got home.  But we are here now.
I am a bit down now but that will change tomorrow when my great niece and her 2 kids come to visit tomorrow.
Lisa:  You know how much I miss you and how much it hurts.  But I would not have traded those 37 years for anything.  I miss you always and love you forever.  Mummy

I\'m glad your trip went well, Marlene, and gong to dinner with Harvey for Cevyn\'s sake was a kind thing to do. Your comment about the preschoolers and the kitty antics made me smile! Have a blessed day and hope the visit with your great niece and her two little ones did cheer you! Have a blessed day. Love, Donna
