Bought some camel meat at the international market. It was ground. Fiance made it into meatballs last night. It was so good.


It needs to catch on over here guys, it's really lean but delicious flavor, better than bison I think. Fiance told me he did research and apparently they have camels in Australia and they are a bit of a problem. Let's help them Aussies out and eat more camel!

No, I mean it was more expensive than beef but not as much as bison. If you get some really lean ground beef, say 93% this was like 98% and not farmed in some slaughterhouse so I think it was worth it.

I'd never heard of using camel meat either. Bison is really big around here. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

It honestly looks a lot like venison but it doesn't have that gamey taste. I definitely recommend it if you ever get a chance.

what state are you in that you found that meat? I would try it based on what you said.....but finding it might be hard around here but we have international markets....

I didn't think peole ate camels and only had Bison once in my life, I guess I would try it but have never seen it in my supermarket, but then you don't see bison in my supermarket either...I was in the midwest the one time I did try it

I live in the Midwest. I got this at an international market 2.5 hours away in another state.

No judgement Because I believe everyone should experience something new but WHY? We have access to just about everything why a Camel? If it taste like beef just stick with beef, I won't eat Lamb ( Because Mary had a Little one) never gonna try Camel, I had a uncle Barbeque bison but I also saw the pellets from which the killed it I'm not that adventurous,

I don't eat lamb or veal cbreez. I've tried lamb and didn't care for it. I'm not sure if I've ever had veal, but that comes from babies so it bothers me.
Also the inhumane conditions that beef cattle is raised in and the fact that it isn't that healthy for you makes me avoid it. Camel doesn't taste like beef btw.
I was raised hunting most of our own meat, so I appreciate wild game and have tried many things.

Rode a camel in the Outback, but haven't seen it in stores or on menus. Aussies did serve emu, kangaroo, and either alligator or crocodile. Tried them all. If I see it, will try it. Hugs to all.
