i was 10...or maybe 9...can't remember these days. i do remember it was july 3rd and i had the worst cramps ever. i knew what it was; went in my mom's closet and got a kotex. lol....went to church that night doubled over and never said a word. the next day i had to tell her as we were supposed to be going out to a museum for the day and i hurt so bad.
I was 13. I was told about it a little before I started. I went to the bathroom and saw blood. My mom came to the bathroom she handed me a pad and said , "Oh, you'll be getting hair down there too". I was wondering WTF was going on with hair in weird places. I also remember being mortified that one morning I woke up and there was blood on the bed sheets. My little sis screamed that I was bleeding and ran to tell my parents.
I must've been 11 or 12.. cannot recall. I knew about it before, fortunately, because of sex ed. My mom had given me a couple of books to read as well, .. I recall the first line of one of those 2 little books my mom gave me to read started off chapter one; "It's time for a little girl to put those dolls away.. and grow into a woman.." (or something 'dumb' like that! LOL!) I don't know why I have that particular memory... but I DO know, I've had uncomfortable cramps from day ONE. Sucks!
It started on my 15th birthday. didn't freak out was definitely thinking I could really do without this for the next few decades. I cannot believe how young some are when they received aunty flo's 1st visit, 9yrs old, heaven help me my child is 5 now, is not far off then!
I was 12 1/2 and my mom had never told me anything. Luckily, we were shown "the film" in 6th grade. It happened at school and I went home not knowing how to face my mom. I said, "I saw this film last year at school and I did it." End of story
i think i was 12 and i woke up and went to the bathroom, it was so early (like 6 am) that i went into my moms room and was like hey, i have blood in my underwear and she was so tired it didnt register what i said so she goes, "thats nice honey" lol i already knew about all of it but still, what a let down! lol luckily my mom had pads in the bathroom for just in case!
I was 11 and less than thrilled! I yelled down the hall "Mom, could you come here a minute?" After 3 years of wearing those bulky pads I got up the nerve to ask her if I could try tampons. PRAISE THE HEAVENS!!!
Well, my parents were very open about sex and the body. So I knew about it all from as young as I can remember. Getting my period was not a suprise for me. I was 12. It was the summer between 6th and 7th grade. What a memorable day. I was getting ready to leave the house to have my braces put on! On top of that I was wearing white jeans! I was SURE that everyone would know. After much reasurrance my mom finally calmed me down. After what seemed like forever of torture, my braces were on. What a day.
Then as soon as we got home, my mom called my grandmother and aunts and there was alot of cheering and crying and celebration. The whole family went out to dinner that night.
With my own daughters, we have continued the tradition and have been very open and honest about sex and the body. Because of my profession, they have always had access to my medical books and knew about anatomy and reproduction from very early ages. As they noticed things and asked questions, they got truthful answers that they could understand.
My oldest got her period at the same age. I did the same as my mom and called everyone to let them knwo my baby was growing up. Then we went out to dinner!
Now we are just waiting for our youngest to get hers. She is very anxious for "her day" to arrive! LOL
Hi there,
I'm new here, but I guess this is as good a place to jump in as any!
I was 13 or 14 and it was at school. I was with my best friend and we went to the toilet just at the end of lunch break and had to turn up to class late. When we got to class we tried to explain to the teacher that I had to go, but he wouldn't listen, and we couldn't explain why... so I had to sit through the rest of the day hoping for the best. Luckily it was just a little and I made it home relatively unscathed. I do remember getting home though and telling my mum, I felt so embarrassed, started crying and said "why me, why did this have to happen to me!"
