i was 13. yeah, i freaked out. didn't even tell anyone until the next cycle. my family was not warm and fuzzy.

I was 12 and I was told all about it in advance so I knew what to do and I wasn't scared at all. I didn't even have to tell my Mom about it I went to the store and bought what I needed. It also helps having an older sister to learn some things from.

i was ten...and i freaked out big time

i had my first period when i was 12 and i freaked out. lol

i was going 13 :-) i was nervous and excited about it and i know it will come eventually.i was thrilled bcoz it means i turn into a young lady.but it didnt mean i can go out on a date.that was also the time when i started to notice the opposite sex.

I was 11, and it was just after that talk they give in school about it. I remember my Mom calling my one sister, to tell her, and ask if she would pick up some pads. My brother in-law came over with them.

I think I was about 13 when I got my first period. I did know it was coming because I started to feel very weird and irritable.

I was 12, and somewhat prepared since I had an older sister.

It was at the end of a school day and I went to the bathroom thinking I had to have a BM (because of the cramps) and there was all this brown stuff on my panties. No one told me it was going to be brown! I had no idea that it was menstrual blood! I was expecting bright red blood like in the movie "Carrie". I have short periods and it wasn't until the next month that it happened at home, I showed my mom and she told me what it was. Then she called my grandma to tell her I was a woman now.

I was 16 and I already knew what it was. Both my older and younger sister had already had theirs and so did all the girls at school. I was still flat chested too, which made it even worse. I was so worried I'd never start and would be sterile. I started in the middle of the night. I woke up with severe cramps and thought I had diarhea. I must have sat on the toilet for a half hour trying to go, sweating from the pain, and just couldn't. Oh I was miserable. Then when I finally gave up and wiped, I saw the blood. My thought was, "oh great". I woke my mom up and told her. She gave me some motrin and let me sleep with her and I stayed home from school the next day. Up until I had kids I had horrendous cramps, crippling painful to point of making me vomit. I remember one time I started in school and they're not allowed to give you anything for pain. I spent the whole day in the nurses office with my head in the toilet, then on the way home the bus driver had to pull over twice to let me off to puke. I'm SOOO glad I don't get cramps like that any more. Now I can't wait till I don't have them anymore at all!! LOL

I was 12 the day before I started middle school. My mother just got me a sanitary pad. I felt like I was wearing a diaper then I got used to it.

I remember towards the end of 6th grade, I started having menstrual cramps! I hated them but it allowed me to stay home from school sometimes.
