Some advice to help me get through each day
I have been reading some
posts on here and I can relate. My problems may not be as difficult but I still struggle to come to terms with my husband’s drinking. We have been together for 9 years but married for 1. I guess he’s always been a drinker but to what extent I found out when we started living together after marriage. I’m from a family of non drinkers whereas he’s from a family of drinkers. I like a drink but I can go months without having one whereas he needs to drink everyday it seems. At home he will buy the 4 big bottles of beer and have that in the evening and on a night out he won’t know how to control his limits. I always have to look after him. I think the difference is I don’t come from that background so don’t understand it. On numerous occasions he’s made promises to stop and we even compromised so he would cut down to 3 times per week which never happens. His family have a history of alcohol abuse and death by alcohol but clearly that doesn’t put him off. I want to leave but I can’t. I’m trying to change my thinking to adapt to how his thinking but even after a year I’m struggling. Just don’t know what to do to feel happy.
