My AH finally got arrested for another DUI. The last one was 11 years ago, but since this is his 4th, we think he will get heavy punishments. He was completely drunk when he hit a parked car in a parking lot and left the scene. Some people called the police, and they came to our house to arrest him - right before last Christmas. I was SOOOOOO relieved to see him getting arrested!! That's exactly what he needed.
Yesterday, he received the blood test result back from his attorney. His attorney said he had never seen anyone with a 3.7 rate in his 30 years of practice! My AH was shocked to find out he was near death drunk. Since the arrest, he has been a changed man. He has been going to the church, joining the Men's group at the church, working 10 hours a day, totally being sober, etc. He finally realized that he is an alcoholic and he could get back to the drinking any day if he doesn't make a continuous effort. He saw three people he knew at the AA meeting which was comfort to him. It is sad to say I wished him getting arrested, but I knew it was the only way for him to stop drinking without hurting others or himself. All of his family members and friends are relieved to find out the situation. His court day is set for 1/31. His driver's license has been suspended, so I have been trying to drive him around as much as I can. We say he is the lucky man who survived the terrible addiction without killing others or himself.
Our almost 14 year old dog is about to be put to sleep. He always helped me getting through the tough time when my AH was drinking and I was sad and lonely. He used to come to me when I cried and looked at me with the big brown worried eyes. He was just fine through X'mas when our daughter came home from college, and as soon as my AH got sobered and things got better, his health started to fail. I told my AH that our dog gave him a new life. The dog used to worry about us but now we are happy, he can go. He has only a few more days to live, and I am extremely sad to see him go. We love him so much, and we will miss him so much.....
