Wives of Alcoholics Community Group
A forum of healing and help for wives of alcoholics.
So, my ABF has been drinking a lot more than he used to lately and we haven't been on a date in months. So I asked him if we could go on a date this weekend and he said yes. This morning he starts drinking and I told him I'm not going if he's drunk. He tells me he won't drink that much. He then told me he wanted to go soon, but he was kind of drunk and we had just eaten breakfast. He then tells me he just wants to get it over with. He immediately realized that wasn't very nice and said it was because of his anxiety and not me. It just stinks that he's always more interested in drinking than spending time with me.
And it's like he wants me to praise him for not going on any sad, angry rants or going into bouts of alcoholic psychosis in the past few weeks. He just keeps saying that he's doing better. And yeah, it's great not to have to deal with that, but it's only a matter of time before it happens again. I just get anxious every time he drinks.
