Frustrated!!!

does anyone else sometimes feel it's one step forward n 2 steps back !! My Husband has been sober for a week - well I say sober he still drinks 2 cans most evenings but it's nothing compared to wat he used to and yesterday he had none I was very proud den today happens , he had to work in the afternoon wen he came home I had a feeling he had some drink on him but he wasn't drunk so I couldn't be sure , he wanted to watch the racing (horses) and place bets this was happening in the local pub , he assured me he cud go for just a hour and place a bet without drinking then he rings me drunk saying I'm gonna stay out another hour - I said if u do don't bother comming home - I'm getting so fed up of this he's perfect for a week r two n den just doesn't care and goes on a bender I have a 14 yr old son& 17 week old daughter - I just dnt know wat to do anymore it feels like he's only committed half the time to working on his drinking one step forward and ten backwards

aww hon, don't feel stupid, i think most of us are in the same position! we had no clue that there is a huge range, from social alcoholism to full-blown alcoholism that tears families apart. it doesn't help that we are all so afraid and ashamed to talk about it, but the more we talk - to anyone and everyone who will listen - the less we will suffer, because people will know and they won't feel so alone. i just read a sobering article that 1 out of 8 american's is now considered an alcoholic. crazy, right? that's literally millions and millions of people suffering from something that is LEGAL.

Yes your completely right , it is so sad that so many people are effected by alcoholism and don't know it it is an awful disease but it's very hard for us wife's especially the husband magically doesn't realise his behaviour or at least pretends even their blackouts they don't remember but we're the ones who have to put up with the verbal abuse while they simply forget !! Yet we're supposed to not tell anyone what's going on , I'm fed up of that keeping his disease like it's a dirty little secret well no more yr right I will tell anyone and everyone who will listen and support me because it's just to much stress !!
