I just joined this group hoping to get some advice from people who understand my situation.
I've been married to my husband for 17 years. I got married at 17. We have 4 kids together, my oldest being 16, youngest is 7. Anyhow, not too long after we got married and started having kids, my husband turned to alcohol. Over the years he's progressed to drinking 3 30 packs of beer a week. Plus whatever else he can fit in.
I can guarantee you will read your life story on here, just written by hundreds of other partners like yourself.
We all live the same life, we all desperately went them to stop drinking, we all pray that they will change and we all stay because we still love the sober part of our relationships.
We all wish we had the strength and courage to leave but we dont for one reason or another.
I dont post alot on hear because sometimes I get sick of listening to myself say/type the same thing!! However I have found it a pillar of strength during some dark times. Sometimes just knowing you aren't the only 1 in the world living this crazy life is comfort enough xx
Sll82, isn’t that the truth?? I’ll vent to my sister and a couple close friends, and then end up saying, “I’m a broken record. I say the same things over and over. Sorry to bore you once again.” Sometimes it truly helps to just say the words, get them out there so you can hopefully think about something else...
I know my family has lost soooooo much respect for me. I love him when hes good, but when hes drunk im on edge, now when hes off work,,im on edge, because if I don't watch him hes coming back with a better excuse to get a bigger bottle which means if he gets shitty,,he wont be sober for longer, and ill have to manage his pattern of destruction longer, pray no one steps out of line or gets on his nerves, for longer. Im living on the edge of loneliness and misery, Of my own making..this has TOTALLY CHNAGED HOW I WILL EVER SEE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE FUTURE OR MY LIFE!!
