We have a 6 year old girl with WS and she has two younger brothers (5year and 5month) and everything she does "bad or naughty" always comes back to..."Because my brothers made me."(and i get the two older kids are very close but half the time our 5 year old isnt even around the situation she tries to put on him) It gets very challenging because we are at a loss as to how to explain that your actions and choices are yours and your 5 year old brother and 5 month old brother cant make you do anything. She gets so much of our attition the way it is due to the WS and im just spent...with taking care of her, trying to make her 5year old brother not fell put to the side because of the attention she needs and the baby needs...I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how we can make her be a little more responsible for what she does and not just let it go...I get she cant have the same punishments as her brother, but he ask quite a bit why when she does something naughty nothing ever happens!!!! Ugh....really at a loss!!!...any ideas!?

I have a 4 year old with WS and her brother is 7. Every day and every night theres something she does that is similar to the same situation. I have found that finding a good punishment for both of them is working for me. So that my son doesn't feel put to the side or she gets special treatment, they get the same punishments. Having the same punishment has made it easier for my son to let some of that anger and resentment go. It has also helped my daughter to realize what she's doing s wrong. She still gets into trouble but not as much. This world won't change because she has WS. The mind is an amazing thing, even though she see's things very different, I'm still trying to teach her...wrong is wrong and even though it might not seem that way to you I will help you understand as much as you can, but you will still get the same punishment as your brother. I hope that helps!

I have a daughter 29 y/o with Williams Syndrome, She has a fraternal twin sister without the condition. Punishment needs to be the same, but it must come with lots of dialogue or conversation. What you are stating appears to be normal for some siblings. My brother and I had issues as 5 & 6 year old children. He was always misbehaving and blaming me and neither of us had Williams Syndrome. Please try to be impartial and unbiased in punishment or support. All children need to know right from wrong and they must deal with the consequences of bad behavior. It will be important for them in development into adulthood and integration into the community and the world.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
