Hello Annie, Welcome to DS.
I'm trying to think back to remember what age my Son started walking (he's 21 now)....he didn't crawl until he was nearly two, so i think he was probably 4 or 5 before he walked. But obviously all WS kids are different, so it could be a lot sooner for your lad.
I think your lad would really benefit from being with other kids his age, most WS kids are so out-going and friendly, and i think it would be good for you too.

I have the same concern. My daughter is 20 months and not going to walk any time soon. I also stay home with her.

I have a friend in the area who has a daughter with WS who is now 4yr. She started walking right before she turned 3 yrs.

I talk her to the mall kiddie area and to parks so that she can see other kids.

My daughter is 4 now & recently diagnosed earlier this month. she started walking about 2 & 1/2 -almost 3 years old. We started her in OT. They said she had low muscle tone. She also wore some sure step shoe inserts to help. She really benfitted from the OT.

My son started walking at about 1 but he got 'stuck' crawling before that and couldn't progress for a while - we took him to an OT and she taught him how to progress from crawling to the next stage, I think if we hadnt done that he would have taken longer. He is now 7 and attends a 'normal' school and his ability to 'model' the behaviour of other children has been invaluable in his development.

My son was 11 months old before he started to crawl, and he finally walked at 19 months. Potty training was more difficult, though. He was 4 before he was completely potty trained.

Hi, My son is 4 .5 yrs old, and started to walk all on his own at 3.5 yrs old. He still does not talk...only screams and signs a couple, and still is not Potty trained. But he goes to school full time and gets all his therapies there. I thought he would never walk, and now he does. So Now Im thinking he will never talk.... hopefully he will soon talk.

HI, My son was 4 months old when he was diagnosed. He is now 6 and in kindergarten. Life with Austin has been tough at times but well worth it. He did not walk until he was 3 1/2. He had open heart surgery when he was 2 1/2 that was in July 2009, then in January 2010 he made a complete turn around. He walked, talked started running and all sorts of things, it was an amazing time for me and my family... He loves school and he is so friendly and knows no strangers, I stay home just in case anything happens...But he still has more surgeries to come, he has been through it all and continues.. He is such a joy to have in my life..

My 29 y/o daughter was not walking at 22 months but her fraternal twin sister who does not have Williams Syndrome started walking at 12-14 months. I took her to a foot/shoe specialist and he prescribed special boots with wide soles (to straighten her feet). When we placed the shoes on her feet, she began walking immediately and my wife and I burst into tears of joy. It was like a miracle, I will never forget that day.
