Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
One of my first postings was that I felt that I was the one who died.....I really wasn't sure, because I felt like such a stranger - not fitting in to ''real life'' - like life was going on, but I was looking at it from the outside - and my brain wasn't in the moment, I was so consumed with Jerry's death, and my survival.
My advice after almost three years is to keep chipping away at this - it will get better. Set intentions - small little ones - I will get dressed - I will eat at the table - I will get outside to breathe fresh air. One day , believe it or not, you will hear the birds sing again - REALLY.
I can't believe the full circle has happened for me, and that I am giving someone else advice. Thanks for DS and the people who helped me. I want to return the favor any way I can.
xoxo Vicki
you put it so well! It's on those days that the 'fake it til you make it" come in for all of us I think.
I spent so many of them walking around completely disconnected from what was going on around me.
My hopes for you for more 'being in the moment' days, and less Zombie. although the Zombie approach works in some situations, like when there is an insensitive remark!!! ;-)
HUGS and much love to you my freind. Diane
It does get better though,I don't have as many days now where I am walking around like a zombie, and for some reason my mind has blocked out a lot of the first year, and that is okay because that was the most horrible time in my life.
Hugs Sadie
