I am on a daily antidepressant that does not give me any side effects. I still cry. Sometimes I break down into real sobbing. I still have all the feelings that I had before but they are not so intense that I still want to end my own life. If I were in your position I would have a real honest consult with my doctor to determine what I should do in this area.
In addition to the daily antidepressants my doctor also gave me a stronger medication to take when I feel like things are still getting beyond my control. I use these very very very sparingly. I have not even finished the 1st 15 day prescription he gave me back in May. However, there have been a few times they were most certainly needed.
Warm hugs and warm wishes to you. Darlene
You might be taking a wrong class of meds altogether - MD`s seem to lump all things together. You just might have anxiety (reasonable) and not dep. so he needs to really hear you. Make a list before you go in, about what you want to say ect. Also there is absolutely nothing wrong with needing some chemical assistance - the effects of high stress, insomnia, ect. can do much more damage to your body, then a xanax or ? G-
because i have so much sadness and confusion in my life at the moment i think i got depression and anxiaty mixed up thinking its the same thing but i know now its diffrent. i'm expiriencing both sometimes.
I will definatly go and have a long chat with my doctor.
Thank you all so much, warm hugs to you all
I'm not the only one to think that way. The Lancet, a prestigious medical journal, disagrees with medications routinely being prescribed for the natural process of grief. Here's the link:

When my doctor offered meds to me, I asked would it bring my husband back. Then I told her that if it couldn't, I need to learn to deal with my grief.
Sleepy and zoombie like is what a friend of mine said the pills made her feel like. Here's another link about possible effects of antianxiety medications:

Good luck in your decision.

Thanks all 4 your comments, warm hugs
When I read these threads I get worried about taking medication again and start questioning my doctors who reassure me once again the disease I have.
People really do have health issues that need medication and panic attacks is a realy issue. Even with my medication I have had them now with the death of my spouse which xanax is not helping. I was told I had a nervous breakdown last week and I need to sleep to recover. Please listen to your doctor and just tell him yoru tired (I was when I first started my medicaiton also) but felt better after two weeks. Your doc might lower the dose if it continues.
Do what you need to do. it is a very personal experience for all of us and some of us are stronger, or have other issues. God bless
