just read someones post about wishing it were all a nightmare. It remimded me that many years ago I had a nightmare that my husband (who was out of state at the time) had died. It was so real that when I woke I could not tell if I had dreamed it or if it had actually happened and I had processed it all so badly that I could only remember bits and pieces of the funeral. I honestly didn't know what to do, how do you call someone and say - am I a widow? I decided I would go to work and would know by people's reactions to me if it had actually happened or not-that is how real it was and how deep my grief was. It was numbing and horrible. My husband was a truck driver at the time and called me first thing in the morning to share that he has lost his brakes going down a mountain and it was only a well placed sand spot for the trucks that stoppedhim. He injured his foot / knee from the pressure he was applying to try to stop and it would go out on him for the rest of his life, but other than that he was ok. I asked him what time this happened and it was the same time as my dream. Once in awhile, since he has passed this dream has crept into my mind and I try to convince myself that it could be another bad dream but this time I know it is true, there is no doubt.

Hi Mary, I'm not sure if this might be of any help to you, but consider that dream may just have been reality unfolding, and for whatever reason, God saved your husband and gave you all those additional years together after your dream (his reality) as a gift to you. ~~ Scott

Really, wish my nightmares/dreams would be a little more subtle. Be careful what you wish to god for you, you might get that, wish I knew he was ok in heaven, reality check of a dream. I sure had two eye openers, they were suppose to be peaceful, but after you really feel like you talked to your husband/wife and touched them, so very difficult when you wake up, to the realization they are not with us physically, and are in heaven. much love and hugs carla

thanks Scott it is comforting as in some ways is remembering this dream, it reminds me how connected the two of us were, that I in Massachusetts could feel what was happening to him in North Carolina. One of the nurses in the hospital made a comment one time that she could actually see the connection between us by how few words we had to use to communicate, she said she noticed sometimes we didn't speak at all, but she could tell by looking at us when she walked by that we weren't sitting in silence. Her comments bring me some comfort.

Yes, the spiritual connection is so very real for a lot of husband's and wifes, and the longer we are together, the stronger it becomes. Our "oneness" is not just physical, but it is spiritual as well. I so remember sitting in my chair the afternoon after Juani had died the night before and everyone had left the house. The house was empty, and I was just sitting there. I felt an emptiness inside of me that I had never experienced - our spiritual connection was gone because she was gone. Her spirit was also gone from our house -- she had such a strong anointing. It all hit me like a ton of bricks. And so began my grief journey. ~ Scott
