This past Friday I attended services for our brother-in-law's mother (age 93). I didn't only attend for our bro-in-law, but to also represent my husband, who worked in the family business over 40 years.

It was refreshing to have one of our friends (and his co-worker), introduce me as Dick's wife. Not this was Dick's wife, or Dick's widow, but this IS Dick's wife.

You can't imagine how full of love and pride I felt, and it it almost 2 years since he left this earth.

Yes, my love, I am your wife, now and forever!

I have felt that same honor and it makes my very soul smile with pride. I'm glad you posted on the subject. We are forever a part of one another in our identities, but we remain to represent our loved one with the quality of an honorable life lived. Blessings. TJ

It does make you feel good to hear that. I had that happen after that 1st year. I had gone into a place that my husband had worked 10 years prior to his accident, I thought I heard someone calling my name but didn't see anyone that I recogonized (not many of the old group was left that had worked with him) then I heard it loud and clear hey "Lance's wife" that made me beam. She then said, "you will always be Lance's wife" What a great feeling.

I am also new in this horrible journey. and people make comments about remarrying some day, moving on etc. I know they say Never say Never. But i plan to live as his wife and my name is already on our headstone as his wife, so i plan to die as his wife. The top of OUR headstone, says "FOREVER & EVER", as he and i always said.

I am and always have been Don's wife and now I'm seeing Kris's husband!! It's great and we both feel that way. Sharon

That is so encouraging to hear. I feel around certain people I am nobody - nobody right now. Unapproachable I wish they would call me by my name or Rogers wife

Debbie - I am glad you this wonderful gesture brought you such happiness. Our (yes "our") auto mechanic and his staff always refers to me as "John's wife" when I come in. They apologize for not calling me by my name, and I always say that I will always be "John's wife" so its good to be referred in such a way. Blessings to you and all of us. Love, Jude
