I feel like I am living in the middle of somebody's bag of practical jokes.

Honestly. It has been insane since DH passed, and seems to get more and more bizarro world around here by the day......

Now, I have people, strangers, that is, calling me on my phone #, asking for me BY NAME, wanting to know why I the heck am not at my fishing boat already, to take them out deep sea fishing.... Usually calling between 5 and 7 in the morning. Sometimes, I have only been asleep for a couple hours.

Where the heck is Alan Funt and the damn camera? Or Rod Serling, already...???

Here's the thing, see, I don't own a fishing boat. I have never owned ANY kind of boat. I have never been out deep sea fishing myself with anybody, but once with family, and have never operated a boat by myself and wouldn't know how, much less owned AND captained one WAY out on the ocean.

Not even a canoe...though that was a near thing at one time.

Point is, suddenly, I am having confused and/or QUITE irate people, strangers I have never heard of, sometimes can barely comprehend as well, tourists, I suppose, calling to find out if and when I am going to come down to "the boat" and take them out fishing... OR NOT, and it has happened twice so far in less than a week!!

This on top of being "dead" and the rest of it.... I am starting to wonder if I am IN an asylum or just belong there, you know?

Sounds like someone has posted your name and number on some site like Craigslist or something. Why? I don't know people can be cruel. My rule is if I don't recognize the number I don't pick up. If it is important or if they really need to get in touch with me they will leave a message and I will call them back. It is bad enough you are "DEAD" but now they are giving you a job you don't want. Just take it all in stride. You are not crazy but can easily make yourself feel like you are.

The first thing I'd ask them is how they made the reservation. What number they called or website they made it through. Sounds like to me somebody is F×%king with you for one reason or another. JMO.

Thank You.... Ask them how they made their reservation! That is a good idea. Maybe I could at least get an idea for where this nonsense is coming from.

If you are able to get that information I'd have a trusted friend call and try to book something. Don't call yourself. Might be someone who would recognize your voice. Than try to get as much info as you can from the call and go from there. Good luck!

Also if you do get a number do a reverse search before calling it. You might get lucky.

If you are lucky enough to get a number. DO NOT call it from the phone you received the calls from. This person obviously knows that number. Use a pay phone. I'd also ask him if I could pay half in advance. Ask for a address to send the check to. This persons greed may derail him. Just my thoughts.

I wonder if someone is trying to do an identity theft on you. You might try putting your phone number into Google and see what comes up. Also do that with your name and see if anything wacky comes up. I do that periodically for myself, my late husband's name, and my kids, too. If you do find anything fraudulent, call the police and report it. I also check my bank accounts and credit accounts regularly for the same reason.

I hope it will turn out to be a case of mistaken identity and nothing else. Keep us posted.

Don't answer calls with no familiar ID. Google the phone number and block the number, never call back. If it is important they will leave a message, screen the message, some are scams.
