There are a lot of evil people in this World. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ our Saviour.

I am so sorry to hear that you must deal with such sick & horrible happenings. I,too, have no idea why people can do such evil things. I can't imagine why God allows such suffering. I understand we have our free agency, but, what about the free agency of the victims? I have no answer for you. I wish I could understand it myself.
I worked with Health & Welfare for 27 years. During that time I also saw some pretty nasty things. However, what you have described goes far beyond what I was exposed to. I do hope that you are give emotional and mental strength to handle the things you work with.
The only bright spot I can offer is that not all people are that evil. Since my husband died I have found that not all , but many people can be very kind and caring. I think it is these people who make life worthwhile and our world a better place. I hope you have some wonderful people around you in your personal life to off set the horrors you run on to at the Defender's Office. Best wishes to you. Darlene

God allows us all freedom to make errors and pursue many sad and depraved paths, it is so since the Fall. It is very sad, disgusting and depraved Tink. May God give you strength to not hang onto the pain you must see in cases like this. The encroaching and far-reaching pain such sin creates is terribly sad. Be strong and of good courage. After Bill died, I existed in a dark, hopeless place. I saw no light.

But I am coming to understand that I have the CHOICE to believe in hope, in God, in the light .

Obviously, this world can be desperately dark and that's why we need Jesus - the light of the world. Would we have ever understood what he did for us if we never saw darkness?

These days,,.............until it's my time to re-unite with Bill............... I try to shine my tiny bit of light to others.

There are a lot of sick people in the world. As a nurse, I've seen and heard just about everything. One of the first things that I was taught in nursing school is that you have to be nonjudgemental no matter what your beliefs are. Sometimes it can be difficult to work in a field where bad things happen. Hugs! Barbara

I think many of us just can't comprehend these kind of heinous acts...we had to watch our soulmates die, sometimes quickly, sometimes over a period of time...and we just can't understand why someone would "choose" to take another's life, and especially in such an awful way.
As much as there is good in this world, there is also evil. We are not to be ignorant of it...but are called to pray...
God IS listening...but sometimes the minds of men/women just don't care.

I agree with everyone's post here....there are a lot of evil people in this world, but eventually they will face the judgement of the all mighty God. All we can do is just do the best we can with what we have. Bless you as you continue this journey with us.

I admire you for what you face in these kind of cases and it must be very trying at times.
As others have posted, with GODS help may you and those those that suffer at the hands of sick people be blessed by GOD.

my wife originally pursued a career in law but after working as a paralegal for a while, in civil and criminal law, she decided to go back to school and got her Bachelor of Science Degree... her job still involved Law and She had to be confronted with the evil's out there but they dealt more with the moral issues that go along with greed (she worked with Louisiana State DEQ) and corporate law... a sin is a sin I suppose but i'd rather someone take all of my money and possessions than include the people that I love, or any defenceless innocent person, in their sick, twisted and tortured exsistance... my wife no longer walks this earth yet she still Lives while many people who are walking this earth are already dead... we that live in and for Christ are mearly walking thru the valley of the shadow of death... the evil in this world makes most of the headlines and criminal charges are rarely brought up when people do good things (that's what I tell myself, sometimes, to keep from thinking the whole world has gone Mad)... so if you decide to stay with it I hope you don't lose faith in the good that is in so many people in the world and even in your Parish, and I Pray that the Lord be with you and give you Strength... these type things are hard to get out of ones thoughts and fears when you hear about them from someone or on the news so I'm sure it's more difficult when you have personal dealings with them but I do hope you have a good weekend despite the week you had to endure at work...

Have you thought about transferring to Crime Victim Support Unit? Here it is part of the PA`s office. It sounds like you would be Qualified, and have more empathy with people on the other side. How satisfying to be able to give comfort and info to people that need and deserve it. After my son was killed they were with me for every court date and really helped us through the whole legal system. Just a thought, God bless you G-

the whole reason drugs are illegal - they can destroy some people. then we have to think of those who are mentally ill. I just got a new student in my class who days before starting school was diagnosed for the first time with schizophrenia. he is really out of it - waving his arms in the air - at times puts his hands over his ears (I wonder if he's hearing voices then because he does hallucinate & hear voices) - stares most of the time like he's totally out of touch with what is going on - he does not belong in my class and will be transferred at some point. How sad for the parents - he cannot enjoy life. it seems you must have something wrong with you to destroy your own child - or any child like that - the brain is so complex.

These type of people should be taken out of society and all put together on an island somewhere and let them live by themselves. There is no place for these type people that harm children or anyone for that matter. If someone were to hurt my 4 year old grandson, I swear right now, God would not like what I would do to that person if I ever got the chance. I just took him from spending the weekend with me. We had a fun time together and he is my reason for having any kind of life since my with passed away. My wife did get to spend almost 4 years with him and I see a lot of her in him. I commend you for the job you do and all I can say is that you are much more compassionate than I.
