I hope you are feeling better very soon, Mary...
My husband died of cancer. I also wonder who would help take care of me if I got cancer. My kids are awesome but it is not the same as having your spouse when you are sick.
This is a really tough topic.
I hope you feel better soon.

I wonder often what I would do if anything serious happened to me requiring medical care. It is scary knowing that there is no one that can do those things for you in the same way that a spouse would. My daughter is still having children so I just don't feel that I could ask anything like that of her for quite a few years. One of the many things that makes our aloneness even more painful.
Mostly because I have my beautiful dog "Horton" who I don't want to be left alone with me for days, [before someone realized that I had fallen and can't get up!] If he missed a meal, I'm afraid he'd start eating me!
I've NEVER been alone......I've either had my family or I've had Morey to take care of me or at least to bounce ideas off of.
My children live hours away from me.......I know they'd be here for me within a few hours and I'd be taken care of but it's not the same as your partner.
Nothing will ever be the same!

I have bouts with kidney stones and I dread having one alone....guess I just call 911 for transport and then my son.
I just hate this new life.....
And I would say "Babe you would do the same for me because of our love for each other." Now he is gone & I do have family close by, but it's not nor will ever be the same .....
I agree with Roz..... I hate this new life !!!!!
